hey guys and gals, I successfully tore down the motor and case. I'm about to start soda blasting it clean. Once done should I reassemble and then paint or paint before reassemble? :D:thumbsup:

Well I decided to split the case, I found this minor issue and just decided to do the whole thing

Thanks for all the suggestion guys...would all these options be good if I left it as is and didn't split the case meaning would it damage the inners? I've thought about sealing off the open areas and bead blasting it...

Hey all, I am at the point of splitting the case for my 1980 xs. Before I do that is there an easier way to just clean the crap out of it, meaning get the old sludge out and clean the outside to the point of ready for paint. What are your thoughts...

Hi all, new here...question... I have a 1980 xs650 motor that I've bought a new cylinder head for due to a stripped spark plug hole...should I keep tearing it down and replace the rings...it had good compression before taking the head off... What do you all think? :thumbsup:
