    Removing fork cover

What is the best way to remove the chrome fork cover on my 79? I don't know the exact name of the part but they look like cheap covers with the stock headlight mounting ears on them. I am building a bobber and want to use new headlight mounts that are black but they wont fit over the cover! I'd...

    Help in Kansas City!!

Can anyone tell me what those breather tube things are sticking out of the carb holders? They should be blocked or plugged correct? I think that may be one of the reasons the bike wont run correctly. I have been reading up on the $10 manual from Mikuni so thank you for recommending that as a a...

    Help in Kansas City!!

I have BRAND NEW VM34 from Tc bros website. The website said they come pre jetted for my application (pod filters and open exhaust). I wouldn't assume that I had to mess with them at all. Maybe I'm wrong... What are you thinking?

    Help in Kansas City!!

Okay so I finally got the bike started! But... it won't start or run without the choke on? I have read about this before in multiple posts but the solution always seems to be cleaning the carbs. I have brand new carbs so I know that can't be my issue. Any ideas?

Fred- I know this may be a stupid question but I'm trying to understand as much as possible. So this is normal, first of all? Also, no need to pull in clutch when starting the bike?

    Help in Kansas City!!

Yessir to all of those. Here is something I noticed when trying to kick it over last time... when I tried to kick it over it would randomly have compression and other times it would not, when I pulled in the clutch it would have no compression and the kick lever would go down with hardly any...

    Help in Kansas City!!

That would be lovely! Because I am at a loss and don't really know where to begin. I am using the mechanical advance version and I am using a battery currently. At least until I get it running then I will swap in a Cap. The ignition was a pretty straight forward install and I am confident I did...

    Help in Kansas City!!

Hello everyone! I have been working on getting my 79 Xs650 running for almost a year now. I am in school so I don't have a ton of time or resources to work with! I have it all wired up and am confident I did it correctly. I tried starting it the other day after PMA install, pamco install, and...

    VM34 throttle cable issues

Hey guys, I'm new to this forum and forums in general so forgive me! I installed new VM34 carbs on my 79' xs650 and I can't seem to find a throttle cable that will work with both my throttle sleeve and the carbs. The carbs are the kind that has the throttle cable coming down and inserted...
