Well I started to go thru the engine. I got the side covers off to clean-up. Drained than Washed out cases with brake clean ( smelled of gas/oil mix ). Filters looked good

turned the crank over and felt it stop. Removed valve covers and I have one sticking exhaust valve ( or a lot clearance ). Turned crank back the other way and it stopped again. Removed the top of the head, than the cam and found it to be clean. Removed the rest of the head and saw this

the wrist pin still float's and the rods are tight on side clearance. My thinking is the exhaust valve was open for a while, as there is only 7200 miles on the bike. Mufflers were rusted out and that valve sticks open but did not take much to close. I'll be doing more to the head saturday to see how deep the problem goes. rawxs

Well started to look into. I took the head part.

Put everything in baggies and marked them. Found one tight exhaust valve and the intake side has a rust mark on the stem. I hope to polish that out or I'll need to replace. The piston clean up great but there is rust on the sides of the rings ( steel rings ). I'll replace them. Ran a ball hone in the cylinders and that cleaned them up and there was no ridge at the top of the bore.

Well I need to order rings, valve seals, and one cir clip.

Now I have a question on the Exhaust port:

there is a casting line or mold line where the two halfs would be put together. There is some miss alignment, Has anyone blended this area of the exhaust port and had it hurt power? I do not want to make it bigger, just clean up and smooth out. rawxs

do *all* your circlips.they're cheap, and they're steel too. what might look good to the naked eye probably isn't. in fact, i would *probably* do the wrist pins as well.
