When will the xs650 hardtail fad end

Well then maybe xstwin was right.........you guys can't take rejection from anyones comment on the stuff you conjured up.........some good some bad.......this will be edited no doubt......... I don't care.....

I post on things to get you farther down the road and no more..........and save all the hacking for others...............

Will be more politically correct from no9w on for all the microcephalics ..........

I would rather see all these choppers than the influx of standard xs's with a flat track seat on them, then calling it a flat tracker!

May I ask your age and your years of experience on these matters......some seats are better than others for sure..........but your high compression thing will leave you before the seat does....

It"s sickening to me that all these bikes are being chopped up,but it's even worse that they all look the same. If I see another tc bros weld on hardtail with a sportster tank, whitewalls, and a yellow lens in the headlight I'm gonna freak. If your gonna chop do something different, be creative don't just think your being creative. Jockey shift yeh uh thats not so unique either, but one of the things that boggles the mind is the way these guys set up the frames, worst lines I have ever seen on something with a motor since the pacer.YOU LOOK LIKE A GIANT RIDING ON AN ACUTE TRIANGLE.THE BACKBONE IS SO SHORT AND STEEP U CAN BARELY SEE OVER THE GAS TANK. You know they do sell pipe benders and welders so you can do your own thing . I just had to get that off my mind.:banghead::banghead:......................I never said I hated choppers or bobbers. Tech7 your way too cool for anything or anybody.Looks like your doing some bitchin yourself ...................... You know sometimes it gets a little boring in here so I like to stir things up and get everybody going,it's good to see such passionate xs riders. Tech I am not a hater as of matter of fact I have 3 separate folders on my desktop 1 for cafe 1 for dirt trackers and 1 for customs and bobbers not only to admire others work but also to steal certain little design elements for my own bikes.

57 posts and starting to start trouble because you are bored. You would do this quite regularly over at 650rider, stir things up then point out and blame others when they reacted, In fact it was only your third post when you made a derogatory remark then justified it as a joke and said, "only busting your balls". xstwin aka dpmphoto: from 650 rider. You have a lot of talent but that does not justify rudeness

Tried to tell everone after 45 years of this that these are compressed to high already for any longivity......as in getting down the road....and as far as I am concerened for any real fun to ride too...with no experience then don't listen...put the big carbs on it and puff it up with compression and have a short lived POS........xsjohn

I'm old, you've obviousely got a thing about my high comp engine, I used to run a hotted up triumph which was being rebuilt constantly, with the durability of the xs engine I haven't had to touch the 760 for years. I also run a 707cc with normal comp, so all is not lost:laugh:

hey mine could blow up at any time too.........hopefully that will be after 100K for my liking........

Im reducing the comp' on the motor Im putting together at the moment, looking forward to a more relaxed ride on this one (It'll go into the hardtail):wink2:
Best long-distance(& long-lived) twin I ever owned was a BSA A10 fitted with 6:1 comp' Ariel Huntmaster slugs ..
I'll keep the others stock, I dont travel far these days , and a high-comp XS is great round the country lanes here

6-1............how did you get it started on on the cold days........ just left it running did ya....?

As many hopped up peices of crap that I have built in my time there is nothing like listening to an engine run that is not all full of itself.........

Hey John, I don't think it's so much a "can't take rejection" thing as it is whats the point of the post in the first place? just to kick the bee's nest around? To answer xstwins question it's not a passing fad as this ad from the 70's shows. Yes they had xs650 choppers in the 70's :laugh::laugh: this whole thread has become very funny

No matter what they look better than a stock (monkey f**ckin' a football) jap bike. Even a TC bros frame. Eveyone I know has laughed at people that ride around the stock old jap bikes (I think they all look alike) even better when they have a fat girl on the back and ride like it's cool. Fairings, I think, are the worst invention as far as style. I guess people say it's all compfortable, but I have a maxima for that. It does take some talent to make any custom to begin with. Stock resoration is following a book and buying replacment parts. I guess if it was a 1935 Indian I could see the point of this argument, but a XS650? good lord! Even my family flattracked them, nobody ever wanted a stock one for ridin'. Just not that kind of bike to most people. Depends what you like, just my opinion and eveyone I have met though. Some people like cool stuff.

3 pages and counting, everyone is all worked up over nothing, where getting off base here kids.My original post had nothing to do with hard tails vs shocks. You all pretend to be cool but there's anger in your words and that has led you from the main idea of my post.U dish it but can't take it,It"s easier on both to stroke each other and tell everyone how great their bike looks instead of pointing to the flaws and making a person and there bike better and safer. One member builds a drop seat with a poor design and bad welds, no one except myself and xs 650 skull point it out. You all tell him to go for it,when you know damn well if u have a clue that those welds are gonna fail or the design is gonna cause failure. How PC of you.Of all people u would think bikers would shy away from the pc thing.

Here we go

Why not just make your post about weld quality/structural integrity/overall soundness then?
I, for one, would welcome an intelligent, useful, positive thread like that.

That wasn't my point but thats a great idea. Emzdogz you hit it right on the money,we need more stuff like that,I am not a welder but someone out there who is a good welder should do a post on welding and metals. I could certainly learn alot from something like that.

Not trying to cause problems, but xstwin, if you're not a welder, then how can you say this "One member builds a drop seat with a poor design and bad welds, no one except myself and xs 650 skull point it out"? How do you know they were bad? Did they just looked bad to an untrained eye? And, are you an engineer to determine bad design? [not trying to be a dick about that question]
Also about the pic you posted 4 posts up, it looks like a triangle because it is! and there's no seat, gas tank, rear fender,........... The one you posted after that would look like a triangle too if you removed everything

I SAID ACUTE TRIANGLE.I can weld I don't do it for a living.DO you even know what an acute triangle is
