Why do people hide their xs's?

i dont get all the hate on peanuts and wassells, in my opinion a standard wassell deep tunnel tank looks like it was made for the xs.
I get all of being creative and different but a lot of times going with what works might also look good. I've only ever used wassells and 1 peanut tank on all of my builds, well wait i didnt do the structural welding on some of them so i'll say on all of my "put togethers". Why? because i like it. eh whatever, just a rant, who gives a shit.

I for one live in the extreme Northeast and was riding to work in 29 degree weather up until two weeks ago and refuse to put it up just in case there is a warm day or two left this season. I prefer the 55 mpg to the SUV's 15 mpg. Not to mention 30 years old or not it was meant to ride, not store away! I have a 1980 xs 650 Special with 13,220 miles. Ride em if you got em.

i suppose that if you go and drop $15000 grand on an r1 and then keep up the service on them then the expense of insurance on an r1 and extras ,, like compuer dial ins and nice set of pipes and jets because you need both,,i,m up to $20000 for a hobby,, yuk!!!! no ,,, i,ll stick with my xs650 yam ,,, it doesn,t ask for much regads oldbiker

Completely different aspect of the hobby though. I own a Ducati 999, KLR650 and the XS650. All do different things that i love. Not one of them can do them all.

Working 65+ hrs a week combined w/ a 30 something year old electrical system keeps my 80 sg in the garage alot. Hughs PMA and Petes ignition and a new harness may have me back out before fall-I hope... I'll watch for ya! (you too Pumps)

KK We only have a couple runnin round here in the Boise area. We are all so spread out across the world but converge here.It seems they would be every where. not so I also ride an HD. It;s nice but they are two diff. bikes forget those dorks on HD's they don't know what it's like to put real care into a bike.Real care isn't buying a bolt on chrome cover and a new hot blow dryer so the chrome is shinier! Most of them are posers any way, spending more money than time on their bikes.A real biker is one who knows his machine in and out. cuz he's seen it that way. He also doesn't need it to be a perfect 72 deg. to call it a good riding day.LOL! and some real bikers wil even make their bikes their own with some sort of MOD that suits THEM, not those softball dad, leather penguins wandering around in the local HD lot or yuppy Biker bar....Heh> My twocents.

I saw one about a week or so ago in my town. I did a quick whip around to check it out. It was a real clean bike, was wondering if it was someone's from here. The one thing I noticed on it, that I didn't like, was a parking ticket stuffed between the seat and tank. I guess just because it's a special doesn't mean you get special privileges.

I just turned past 1600 miles on my xs650 and out of all of them I have never seen another xs650 on the road! What gives? Besides car shows and meeting up with kent, I never see them riding. People online get tired of seeing hardtailed xs's everywhere, but where are all these bikes kept? I get really happy when I see other metrics riding, but with all the harleys out there they are few and far between.

Im in KCK and when im done, youll prolly see me riding my xs all over the damn place... ha

Dammit! It's in the 80's here and I'm stuck at work. I keep looking outside at my bike and can't wait to be back in the saddle. Only about an hour and a half left.

I hide mine in my bedroom.
Its never had the sun shine on it yet.
whomever wants to pay for it can have it
