buildin' me a tracker

Hahah man my coil is the only thing I literally have zero ideas for on my build. I have no idea where it's going to go and it's a little distressing...

Tracker's looking great dude!

Details on the clamp & fitting available from Pamco Petes site HERE
Don't know if they are available in the UK tho Leslie

Thanks Kev,
They look very similar to a plumbing fitting I will have a look in B&Q or Wickes next time I am in.

I see you live in herts keep a eye on my posts as I will be getting rid of some decent standard parts of my 1980 XS650G as i start my conversion.

Hi Leslie
Got to agree, Pregrids is an absolute beauty.
Got my seat unit off fellow XS650.com member XS1961, he sells them on ebay but PM him & he will do it even cheaper. He is in the UK
Another good place for Flatracker bits for the XS in the UK is Redmaxspeedshop.com

Jimminy that's awesome.

Bike's looking great Pregrid! Thanks for the detailed build shots.

Pregrid,
Did your mag wheels come with the bike, if not did you have to change the rear bearings if so did you have a part number for the bearings for that wheel.

My rear came of a XS500 and the spindle size for that bike is 17mm diameter but my XS650 rear spindle is a 20mm ,I am going to change the bearings and try and get a spacer.

Hi, Kev,
Thanks for posting the shots of your tail support.

I made mine differently, working with the stuff I had (steel c-channel cut, bent, and welded to the frame rails, and pieces of aluminum sheet bolted together and bolted to the channel). It's less elegant than any other setup I've seen, but I was surprised that it's as stiff as it is and it's been stable for about 10,000 miles so far. If I had any class at all, and better fab and welding skills, I'd do something more like you did , or what Mule does (I really like the way some of his street trackers have an exposed frame loop with the tail trimmed to fit(check out http://mulemotorcycles.net/p7hg_img_8/fullsize/Picture-20106_fs.jpg); makes a better place to grab when you have to push it...).

I put on two LED tail/brake lights to hopefully double the chance of being seen by the drivers behind.

(Thanks for sharing the thread, pregrid)
John

I have 2 front wheels on the bike. To put a front on the rear I used Omar's adapter kit, which included bearings. Those part numbers aren't gonna help you 'cause you've got a different setup.

Went to a friend's house last night and we did the brake lines..........did braided stainless, then used clear heat shrink in top to keep the abraision level down.

Numbers came in today.....................

You know the saying "measure twice, cut once"? Well aparently "check 4 times, get it right" don't apply when you're a dork! Check what I did on the right side...........

july21004.jpg

Thank God the numbers were reasonable, 'cause I had to order another set to fix my stupidity.

The license frame came in from Lockhart Phillips with the turn signals on the bottom.....

So.............she's gettin' there. Gotta finish the battery box, wiring is next, paint, and then.............hopefully fire-up and RIDE!!

very nice build dave. you should just run with the right side #plate, it just looks like a fancy 7. i've been looking at the Lockhart Phillips plate for my bike, are you happy with the quality?

Pregrid,
Were those braided stainless lines made by you and your friend or bought preassembled? If you made them where did you get the supplies. I'm having a hard time finding anyone that sources the line and fittings to do them myself.
