Hi everybody, I'm Dave. Been an XS 650 fan for as long as I can remember really and have owned one for about 7 years now, along with some other bikes. Currently got one bike that I've just rebuilt which is a 1977 D model that originally came to the UK from San Diego.
I've also got a 1972 XS 2 that's been a chop for years and is in need of some serious love and attention.

Hope to get to know some like minded people.

Hi Dave, I'm from North Notts (Ollerton) I am in the process of converting a XS650G US import into a King Kenny Roberts replica.

As you will see the standard of our American cousins builds is very high and some amazing designs there must be something in the water over the pond.

Thanks for the welcome everybody, am still exploring the site but have already seen some nice bikes in the pics. Had some nice news about mine today too, I'm having it set up on a dyno after I rebuilt the motor and it's running well and kicking out 48bhp at the back wheel and they think there's more bhp hiding inside, get it back in 3 days so fingers crossed. :D

Alright buddy, I'm from Humberside. Trying to get my hands on a XS650 myself to have a go at a bobber chop :bike:
Good luck

Hello also a newbie. I have been riding bikes for 20 yrs not and a root beer 1974 xs650 was my first bike. And now I've decided to bob and hard tail a xs. So I found a few donor bikes for short money and a tcbros hard tailed frame from craigslist and I'm on my way w very little tools and even less money I'm gonna give it a shot.

Hello Ragu
I would love to have a go at it but, I can't even hang a picture on a wall. I am not a DIY man at all. Saying that, I never wanted to be, I do however want to have a go at my own bob chop. My friends and family would piss if I told them I was gonna have a go. I see it like this though......if you have the tools, the garage, you're able to read and watch videos, the time, you aren't as thick as pig shit, have some help from friends and family, a brain, it will and can happen

AND I have NEVER done anything mechanical in my life! AND I don't have many tools!! I borrowed some off people at work and friends, and some I decided to buy.

Took me a lot longer than any normal mechanically minded person, but I know this bike inside and out, literaly!

SO, SO, so worth doing, when you get to this stage, it feels GOOD!!

Thanks Snoogal!

Been almost a year now, I do a little every now and then when I can do some on it.

Money spent? WAY too much already! I had a budget of £1500 and I went over it ages ago! But then again, I had a LOT missing in my boxes of goodies(seller said it was a complete bike, yeah right, complete my arse!!) Still need to get tires and exhaust and footpegs made, then I HOPE I will have spent all I need to!!
