Hey,

Does anyone own the Mikes XS Cafe seat for a Heritage Special (80-83)? I'd like to see a picture of it, outside of the small description on the website.

Is it worth the 200 bucks? Is it a high quality product? What did you do about the tail light situation? What did you use for your tail light after the seat was installed / where did you put the lisence plate lights? I want to see somone's setup.

I'm curious also, I just bought another bike today for $200 and was thinking a cafe bike for this one. I may go all glass yet depends on what things look like and what look I want still undecided

My Dad has one and is very happy with it. It's a nice piece and he never mentioned anything about fitment issues. I think it looks better in person and on the bike than in the pics on Mikes site, too.

WOW. Very sharp. Thanks for the response. What kind of aftermarket tail light did he go with? And does it have a lamp for the plate?

That's the Brit style light that Mikes and many other places sell. He also shortened the turn signal stalks.
Daytona bars with Napolean bar end mirrors and a small fly screen.
Mikes performance exhaust and K&N filters in the stock air boxes. Runs like a champ.

Thanks!

I ended up buying a set of the Superbike bars from 650 Direct (Mike's XS here in Canada). You will have excess (XS!) length of both brake lines and cable to deal with, but it's not too bad. I was going to buy them from Z1 Enterprises, but the US Postal service isn't nearly as cheap as it used to be. The shipping would have been more than the bars, and Z1 is right across the border in NY state. I also installed the chromed handlebar cover at the same time. It looks good, but doesn't quite pinch the bars hard enough, even with the proper torque. They will tend to turn back towards you, not quickly, but you can spin the bars by hand if you try hard enough. It might be a good idea to put a piece of thin feeler gauge in there before you tighten it down. Those Brit pipes sound excellent by the way, nice deep rumble and not too loud.
