Raced a Rd 400 and had a 400 for the street Great bike at the time. easy to work on also had two RD 350,s one race one street kick as bike also I know a guy that has lots of parts for rd,s
RD's
They are very popular in the United Kingdom and there is a large owners club.
I have owned several the last one was a 1981/2 350 YPVS.
The parts are getting really hard to source now, when I was renovating mine 8 years ago a set of 4LO (frame number) Exhaust pipes/Expansion chambers where going for around $900.
although as with the XS in the US a aftermarket parts industry has grown due to the popularity of the RDs.
They are still raced in the UK and a Firm called Scorpion Exhausts did a lovely set of stainless pipes.
The PO told me that it is a good idea to inspect the seals inside the engine before trying to start it... would you concur? As in, will it be totally necessary?
it's hard to say how much he knew, because he hadn't even opened the gas tank before (for example)... he bought it as a project sight unseen, and i don't think he realized how much work it needed? Regardless, i'll check them out for sure.
