A few of you may have seen me on the 33 with this build, but thought I'd put it here too since this site seems to deal more directly with the XS650..

So far, here's the rundown on it:
Here's the details:
New parts: Fuck U 28 Ford style tail light( Hard to find glass lense, not the newer plastic lense);rear brake rod arm and brake rod assembly;Hughe's Handbuilt brake pivot arm kit and aluminum handlebar bushing kit;Hammarhead Industries pillbox switch kit and relays;Bates style halogen bottom mount headlight;Barnett reproduction single cable throttle;Front brake master and performance rotor upgrade with kevlar composit pads;Biltwell seat hinge;Lowbrow ignition switch and key;extended shifter pedal;brake pedal and kicker lever;adjustable YZ style clutch perch and handle;clutch cable;mini speedo with oil/neutral/high beam/signal lights;bullet style turn signals;Avon Speedmaster front/Shinko dual whitewall rear tires and tubes;stainless hardware for fender/seat/frame/risers/carbs/motor side cases;18t front sprocket/32t rear 530 pitch;sportster style bare mwtal tank;gasket and oil seal kit and a few other things.
Fabricated by Slim's Fabrication in So. Cal.: Seat pan, sissy bar with plate/ tail light mount, rear fender, fake oil tank for electrics, rear rigid section, mid control set,low rise narrow z bars, battery tray and short straight shot exhaust;Rebuilt rear drum brake with new hardware and pads.

When I got the bike,it was just the frame and motor with some mismatched wheels and front forks. No axles or nothing on a stock frame. So it went from that to this..

Welcome to the site! Did you do the hardtail yourself? Is it 1" tube?

By the way, only the last picture works.

I just got done wiring my project the other day using the simplified wiring diagrams in the tech section and a fuse block, flasher, cicuit breaker and 40A relay available at most auto parts stores. Ran all new wires so everything is new and very few plug in terminals. I can send pics later if you would like.

im only running, head and tail light, on/off key switch, neutral light, and ignition. Kick only. stock stator. i cant figure it out for the life of me. im going to sit down tomorrow and try and redo it.

heres afew pictures.

That Ultima unit is Golden, but can be found for less than $150. Try you local indie shop, probably got 'em for around $100.

So, here's what's going on with this build, as I posted in the Pandamonium giveaway thread:
I actually put my bike on the back burner because I moved to Vegas with my wife to help my brother in law save his house, I sold off three other bikes and my Galaxie to go out there, but kept my 650 because my wife said she'd never let me sell it due to the blood, sweat, tears and money I already have in to it. I ended up using all the money I had to help my brother in law save his house, buy food and pay bills. The whole time I didn't spend one dime on myself or my bike because it was about helping him first and to keep him from losing his house. I even lost an extra 6K in the process for leaving my job out here in Cali for 6 months, because I took a little job as a janitor in Vegas (The job market out there is horrible, and unemployment rate in Nevada is the highest in the U.S. at 13%, higher than any continental U.S. state) making about $350- $400 a month while I was out there (After taxes), so all my money went in to saving someone else's house, feeding three people, and keeping gas in our car to get back and forth to work. So, if I knew how this contest was actually working, I would have said I think I should win because I haven't been able to get a single part for my bike in the last 8 months due to helping someone else save their home so they didn't end up being homeless, basically being a selfless person. I've put this build off for the last 8 months, and recently been trying to get some sort of transportation going. My wife and I had to move back in to our parents houses for now because Las Vegas devastated us financially. A few times I pondered selling my 650 so the wife and I could have some money and I could get my truck on the road, but my wife said she'd beat my ass if I sold it. She knows how much dedication I have in the last year and a half on this bike, and how much sacrifice I've made just to get this far with it (I started on it before I met her), it sucks that right now the only job I have pays me between 800-100 a month, and I have to divide that up between getting my truck on the road, the bike, and helping my wife out and paying my personal bills. So the bike is taking a long time. I just want to get up on either two or four wheels soon so I can see my wife more, find more work on top of the job I have, and get a place for my wife, step son and I.
