I just put the top end back together with new gaskets and all that. After getting everything torqued down and stepping back, I'm wishing I would have replaced the dull cylinder head crown nuts with chrome ones. Would I be able to replace them one at a time following the torque pattern without having to replace the head gasket(s)? Sounds like it should be ok to me...

You'll probably get mixed reviews on this. But i've done it many times one at a time retorqued and have never had a problem.

You can do it just don't pull on the head or rocker box. Loosen all of the top end bolts to finger-tight. Replace the ones you want. Then re-torque in the same order as before. If you are careful you shouldn't have any problems.

BTW, Those factory ones will clean up quite nice on a buffer wheel. Unless they are pitting and extremely rusty... The ones MikesXS sells are less than impressive compared to a cleaned up stock set...
