New Toy for my Springfield XD40

There's a laser that you can build from a DVD writer and you won't need the pistol.

Very nice. My Walther PPS has an rail but I would have to have a holster custom made if I picked up something like that. Too much money!

I have a xd40 the older ones before they came out with the xdm. I LOVE the trigger on this gun one of my best shooting guns!

Yeah I like the XDs a lot. I have an XD-40 and an XDM-9mm. I got the 40 in 2005 and the XDM right when they came out at the end of 2008. I plan to keep this on the 40 though.

Derek, you might be able to find a holster that will work. A couple of holster companies make holsters specifically for handguns with these attachments.

xjwmx, I've seen those on youtube. They can pop balloons. What are you going to do with it? Shine the bad guy in the eye?

I am Carbon, I have a friend that has a green one and that's what convinced me to go green vs red. It's quite impressive at night and in low light situations. During daylight on light targets it's harder to see.

I have an XD9 and love it. Really wanted a light like that on it but just can't justify spending that much money on it. $275 would buy a lot of bullets! Hell, I only spent $350 on the gun...

Yeah they are spendy! I almost bought a Crimson Trace Rail Master laser for $130, but after doing more reading and research I decided on a green laser (more expensive) and really wanted a light too! I probably should have used to $275 toward an optic for my AR-15, but I'm sure you know how it is when you see something you just have to have.

And I thought I spent too much money duct taping a flashlight to my shotgun.

I've read that some bigger lights can affect certain pistols, but these things are getting smaller and smaller and this one only weighs 2.344 oz. including the battery (about the same as 4 .40cal rounds). That's not much.

Night sights are good for aiming, but how do you know what or who you're aiming at if you can't see them and identify them? That was my justification for the getting the light anyway. I guess if they're zombies and have a distinctive zombie sound, I guess you don't really need to see them that well. :)

This came in a couple of days ago. Viridian C5L... I love it. It's hard to capture how bright both the laser and light are, but I'm very impressed. It's easy to use and change the settings. You can go light only, laser only, both, light strobe with laser, laser strobe without light, and laser strobe with light. It remembers your last setting and has on/off buttons on both sides that are in a good place to hit with your finger.. And it's small and light weight! If it holds a zero and doesn't affect how the gun shoots, I'll be very happy with my purchase. :)
