Any artists or musicians on this site?

Oh, and even though I don't have a single bone of artist in me, I have always loved photography. I shoot all digital stuff just for fun nowdays, but back in the 80's I did some commercial work professionally and even had one photo go into a national publication. Pretty cool.

I do music and art by building guitars.

Here is my latest finished and my current.

Telemaster made from Yellow Pine. (which sounds awesome and isn't as soft as regular pines)

Lukach4, I am a musky nut too so I had a musky in mind while fabbing it. It is now on the shore of a lake in your neighborhood so keep your eye out for it.

TCB71 - Greetings from Mid Rochester ! I took painting lessons from this guy for a few years, (link attached). Check his stuff out. Been wondering if his style would look good on a gas tank. Make sure you take some time out from that rock 'n roll to wrench on your XS !

Wow steve carpenter's stuff looks amazing. I think his stuff would translate well to a gas tank. Have you contacted him yet?. Rock n roll takes up a good chunk of my time but I find time to wrench on the XS daily. Usually right after work for a couple of hours. I'm fabricating a bunch of stuff for it at the moment including a custom kicker pedal, Solid mount risers for the top triple tree(ala' hugh's handbuilt), gas tank mounting bungs(thanks again Hugh), the solo seat hinge and mount(like fab kevins),and a custom set of handle bars. Watch for my build pics in the next few days as I just located my camera which had all of my build pics in it.

Wow man those look amazing. I always wanted to try my hand at building a custom guitar but it always seemed like a lot of specialized tools and knowledge was needed. So I just stuck to playing them. I'm currently lusting over the new gibson les paul custom classic in all black with chrome hardware and white binding:thumbsup: I just picked up a mark morton signature model jackson a few months ago it plays like a dream. What kind of stuff do you like to play?

I spent most of my regular life as a secretly frustrated musician. But if I knew 30 yrs ago what I know now, I'd have been famous.

It's foolish to be an artist if you aren't famous, and pathetic to be an artist who isn't famous.

Ahhhh Fame fortune and fast women. I've never had them either I just paly because I love to. There is nothing better to me than to stand in front of my amps and making the earth shake. That and gigging If I can loosen someones filings on a saturday night and make a little money doing it I'm happy.

I make things, largely of wood, and some metal as well. Mostly turned and carved vessels. I travel the world teaching, and have work in 25 or so museums, seven pieces in the Smithsonian American Museum of Art. Its kept me from working for anyone for almost 30 years. :)Going next week to work with a group of some of the best blacksmith/artist/woodturners/carvers and sculptors/ A whole week of making, eating, learning in the mountains of NC. :)

More of a music fan (and live music) these days, but used to play a lot before we had kids. Guitar, dobro (another one :) ) and pretty good harmonica player. These days we mostly cheer on our son, who is almost finished with his doctorate in music performance-percussion. Specializes in marimba,xylophone/vibes, and timpani. He also teaches and writes a lot of marching, drum and bugle corp stuff, and plays in a salsa band some.

John

Wow your stuff looks amazing. I know all about cheering on a child as I have a four yr old son who just got his first drum kit:laugh: Can you say ticked off neighbors:)

On a scale of artistic/creativity from one to ten, I am almost a 10. I love "creating" things :D

Writer, filmmaker, musician---

Written a few books and screenplays, and over 200 articles.

Shot first film awhile back, it's won a bunch of awards and we just signed a distribution deal.

Self-taught to work with synthesizers and released 2 electronica albums several years ago.....but haven't created a tune in a long time. Been busy with college and day trading. I am thinking about taking up electric guitar soon.

I'm not an artist but loved to draw when I was younger and still doodle in spare time.

You sound alot like me. You found a bunch of mediums that you like and just went with it. I'm the same way I get the same satisfaction from building a motorcycle, painting a picture, sculpting in clay, wood working or doing music. I feel that a great many of society's problems can be traced directly back to a suppresion of the creative urge. I get a lot of joy in making my ideas appear in front of me in the real world.

I just got an old cannon F1 and found a camera shop here in town that has lenses for it. I want to photograph my bike when it's done. I'll probably use the machine shop where I work as backdrop. Now I just have to find some heavily tattooed hotties that will model in bikinis and drape themselves all over my bike for me.

Metal butcher. Mainly aluminum and stainless. I like bronze also but it has gotten very expensive and sales are slow. I make a lot of mobiles as well as static sculpture. www.stevenhaasmobiles.com

Awesome! It would've been even more awesome if you were a one armed artist but that's just my eyes playing tricks on me.:doh: Nonetheless, very impressive and very cool.

Hey TCB71

Thanks man. I have been woodworking since I was in grade 8 and I'm 40 now so I've had some pratice. ;) It is a lot of fun and gane be done wit basic tools but will take much longer.

Building a good neck is the hardest part, but once you have built some bad ones it gets easier and easier.

I'm into alot of different styles punk, classic rock, garage even country. But not the whiney stuff but old sun records type rockabilly stuff. What are you into?

I'm into all kinds of music with classic rock and early heavy metal(preist, saxon diamond head)being favorites I'm, also into thrash from the 80's and 90's, and heavy music in general.I dont really get into black metal at all. I do like grindcore and tech grind though(Psyopus from Rochester rules). I like to play rock and metal mostly but I have played in blues, jam and even a light jazz trio a long time ago. These days I play in two bands the first is a straight ahead melodic hard rock band. The second is a power trio that I just formed to satisfy my love of playing really heavy music, some of the bands we're covering so far are St Vitus The Obssesed, Weedeater, Down, Skynyrd, and an old Eric Burden and the animals tune that got reworked to be much heavier. Our originals are along those same lines. Do you play in a band? Do you gig out?

Im an artist,Ive been selling my work for 40 years , my own boss.. heres one I sold recently ( I used to sing in a rock band,I cant play an instrument though :-(
