G&L choppers

Yea, i was just logging back in because I thought maybe I should have not lost my temper and said what I was thinking but you can only be pushed to a point and beyond that nothing is left off the table. If I can;t ride the bike I don't have a bike. All I know is I'm out 6200 plus.

Im sorry to say, but it sounds like you royally (and unfairly) got screwed over, Vdubplate. So in my opinion you have every right to be pissed off because I sure would be. This is a pretty long thread, but if you read some of the comments, there have been a lot of strongly worded opinions posted so far. Im not justifying anything by any means, but you aren't completely at a loss. From the sound of it, you have a kick ass bike that might need some engine work. Maybe investing a little time and hopefully not too much money, you could find a donor engine or fix the one you have. It sucks that you already paid the 6200, but at least you have a rolling frame for the money you invested. But I understand, you pay a guy to do a job, and he doesn't follow through, it would send me over the edge too.

Yea, your right. I think I'm going to take a stab at taking the engine apart and see if I cant fix it myself. Some guys in another post have given me some good direction so there might be a light at the end of the tunnel.

Let me know if you need any help. Be glad to help you out.

Hey guys,

Sorry for my delayed response silver_back and thanks again for posting up your experience. Any word on getting your bike running yet or the replacement parts that you were promised?

Sorry to hear about your experience as well Vdubplate. Hopefully you can get your motor issues all worked out too.

I'd love to see some photos of both whenever you guys get the chance.

I finally received another message from Rich over at G&L, stating that my bike will be done eventually sometime this month, (May 2012) and that he's actually hoping to deliver it in person.

Although there has been very little communication since the beginning and I did hope to make some significant changes along the way, I'd be thrilled just to see my bike again.

I'm really hoping Rich comes through this time but I'll definitely keep you posted... for anybody that's actually still interested.

Thanks again.

Read through the engine rebuild threads. Sounds like you're gonna need one with this guy. Jeez, what a racket, junk engines in fancy frames for 6 thousand dollars, lol. And that's not me laughing, it's Rich laughing all the way to the bank.

What do you ride that don't need fixing?

no worries man,

thanks for posting a response.

My guess that Rich's promise to deliver the bike to you in person will fall through. The reason i say that is that he did the same thing to me! He was going to deliver my bike in person, but as always "something came up".

Then he shipped my bike without informing me about ANY of the shipping info, i had to scramble to pick the bike up, only to find that Rich shipped the bike without ANY of the shipping papers that we had agreed upon (as i am from Canada, i needed specific paperwork to get the bike throw customs). And that cluster f@#k cost me a couple thousand dollars in total to sort out...Which of course, Rich denied all blame/accountability.

I do hope that you get your bike man, and i hope that it runs well!

Let us know how it goes!

The final thorn in my side, is my Fiance who keeps saying to me every time I cant start the bike, "I can't believe you paid that much money for a motorcycle that doesn't even run". Words don't describe how pissed I get when I hear that.

I'm lucky i guess. Every time i find something new wrong with my bike/i cannot get it to start my wife tells me to sell the damn thing (at a loss if i have to) and buy myself a new bike! :D

In that regard, i am one luck man!:D

I hear you dude.
All in i'm at about $9000. And at this point i refer to the bike as my $9000 paper weight!

Yep,

but hopefully with threads like this we can prevent people from getting screwed over as bad as we have.
I have already personally talked to 2 different people who have emailed me (that have seen my posts here and on other forums) about Rich who i have successfully prevented from having to deal with Rich and his BS.
It doesn't fix my situation, but it does ease the pain a little bit to know that i have prevented someone else from going through this.

I'm going to take the engine apart myself and see how far I get when it starts to get cold again. If its fixed and runs at least I learned something and I'll feel good about it. If not I have a paperweight as silver_back said.

I just got back from overseas and been catching up with everything. I got the time to read up on the thread and maybe I should be glad i'm still waiting for my build to be done. I'm sorry every one is having such difficulty. It will be 3 years this August since Rich received payment. I do not even recall the last time I heard from him.

3 years??? I would have been demanding my money back!! I run a repair shop here and I wouldn't even attempt to have someone wait that long they would have pulled it out of here or demanded the money back. wow!!! 3 Years.

Wow man...
Sorry to hear that! Sorry to hear that you are still waiting for your bike!

Yeah, i tried that (demanded my money back)...

Tried several times actually. Each time Rich told me that he could not do that because he had ordered all of the parts for the bike, but then promised me that he would get my bike done and get it out to me. Then (as has been his MO) he dropped off the face of the earth and i did not hear from him for months.
:banghead::wtf::banghead:

So update on my bike...

Rich still owes me missing parts.
Specifically he owes me a set of handlebars (as he put on the wrong ones)
He owes me a new seat (as he put on the wrong one)

He shipped me my bike knowing that these items were wrong but shipped the bike anyway (the bike was shipped at Xmas and i am still waiting for these parts)

And also owes me my mirrors that i requested/paid for but he "forgot" to send me.

And...

My bike still does not run!
I have given it to my old man at this point to work on. My old man is a heavy duty mechanic, so although he does not typically work on bikes, he knows his way around an engine. Thus far from what he can tell the electrical on the bike is a complete mess...i believe his exact words where "i have never seen a more confusing and plain old wrong electrical set up".

He is now working on pulling apart the engine to see what in the hell is wrong with the bike and why it will not run.

Also i contacted the BBB of Colorado Springs...
Specifically i attempted to register a complaint.
They informed me that they have been unable to get ahold or Rich. He does not return calls or emails.

the saga continues...

Rich sounds like a douchebag...the forward controls I picked up, I had to refab them.

Yep...
Sadly this now seems to be the case.

Like i said in my previous posts...Rich took 18 months to deliver me a bike that does not run. Additionally, he sent me a bike with parts on it that i did not order...and despite knowing this he has yet to send me said parts.

At this point...Rich is misrepresenting himself, his abilities (or lack there of) and his work. Additionally he is stealing money from hard working people and either:
1) sending them bikes that do not run
or
2) taking their money to build custom bikes and NEVER delivering said custom bike

I am actually in the process of getting a blog/website started

Specifically, to act as a warning to any and all people considering getting a bike built by Rich. My hope is to prevent people from having to go through the same thing that i (and other board members) have gone through

If anyone is interested in contributing please contact me/PM me
