Replacement Ring Pictures: Tell Me What You Think

I've been running piston rings from a early 90's Honda Civic D-series motor for a few years now. I was on a tight budget and the honda rings cost $10 shipped for a set of 4(gotta love all those ricers on ebay). So far so good. If I can find the two sets I didn't use I'll try to photograph them.

Sorry for the late reply, just checked my spam and found these notification emails. You wanna know how the rings are working?

This how they're working!

Did a 250 mile ride this weekend, no problems at all to report. I'd say, if you're broke, this a great way to save some money on the project.

I bought the honda hastings ring set off ebay to see what they are. Looks like they will work fine. Probably made with better materials then any stuff out of china. If you are looking to do a cheap job then they might be the ticket. If you are looking for a motor that you have confidence in and want to run long and hard then you are gambling. Might be better then the XS aftermarket stuff, maybe worse? Biggest concern is the materials they are made of. New hi tech rings are designed to run in different sleeve composites. Different clearances, hone patterns, grits and break ins. Older Honda rings were pretty basic composites. Set of 4 for $25 made in USA steel.

Only time will tell.

Im reringing my bike with these rings this week as well. Did you guys just buy the standard bore or 1 over? Also what did you set the end gap to?

Ring end gaps, page 72 of the Clymer's book. Tells how to check and what the spec is.

Update, i just bought the NPR rings for a honda civic from ebay (not hastings) standard bore, they fit the pistons perfect and the bike runs flawless. I probably could have gone 1 over then adjust the end gap, but the standard 75mm rings we right at .4mm with out any gapping and the cylinders were in great shape just needing a quick hone. I would 100% recomend these rings to anyone looking for replacment rings and not wanting to pay mikes high price. These were $23 shipped to my door.

I know this is an old post, but I purchased the DNJ PR211 rings and was wondering if anyone can tell me which side goes up and which side goes down with these rings. The 1st ring has a bevel on the inside diameter, and the 2nd has a "step" on the outside diameter. Also did anyone have trouble trying to install the expansion ring?
