HAY I HAVE NO STOPPING POWER ON MY NEW BOBBER BUILD REAR DISK.(MY OTHER BOBBERS HAVE HAD DRUM BRAKES,HAS A NEW MASTER CYL.FROM MIKES XS NEW PADS AND A CLEAN ROTOR,IT WILL STOP BUT I HAVE TO STAND ON IT:wtf:

Check that the piston in the caliper is not siesed & that caliper can slide on the mounting bolt failing that is it the corect M/Clyd. for the caliper

In my opinion the pads from mikes seem to get a little better with use. I'm currently facing a similar problem with my bobber. I am running a Harley rear master cylinder with dot 5 brake fluid and a stock xs caliper and rotor and my rears suck! But the are getting better have about 100 or so miles on them. Make sure the brakes are bleed well. Best of luck I will keep you posted if I figure anything out

No mention of a front brake? :yikes:, i would rather have a front brake only than a rear brake only. Rear brakes make a nasty noise when applied hard. Thats the sound of hitting that stopped vehicle in front of you. Keep it on one wheel. Mitch

I had stock OEM calipers on my 78SE, and the braking was acceptable. Through the years I've had a few encounters with things jumping out in front of me (such as deer), which required emergency application of both brakes. I decided I didn't want to have a collision with any forest critters, so I now use Brembo 4 piston calipers on front and rear. The braking power is much increased as compared to stock. Really big safety factor!

did you make the mounting bracket or buy one i need one that was the whole point of starting this thread any help as to where to get one or a patter to make one would help. Thanks.:d

I don't know if this is your problem or not but I once found a brand new brake line fitting with casting flash (trash) that was blocking most of the opening. Took me weeks to figure it out and about 3 minutes with a tiny file to fix.

Since then I always look for casting flash in new parts before I put them on.
