New to the forum here. Have not currently got a ride and like a lot of others feeling the pinch right now so thought I would have a go at an XS650 project. Got tools and a willingness to learn and some previous experience on a CB750 SOHC project so not completely clueless. Truth is I am pretty unhappy without something to tinker with.

So I suppose I will be asking a lot of questions and would just like to say thanks in advance. Seen some really cool stuff here and know I am in the right place. Seems to be a good crowd with a lot of knowledge.

I am going to post this in the want ads but I am looking for a frame with paper to get started with. PA or surrounding area.

Sorry bout that. The question was I was going to look for a frame with paper. Anyone have any ideas preferably PA or surrounding states?

Might be easier to find a non-running xs with a title (for $400-500 depending on the XS650 market in your area) and at least an engine and the wheels you want. Then sell the rest of the parts you don't need.

Buying a frame, then motor, then wheels, then front end, then carbs, and everything one by one will probably cost more in the end. Plus you have to make sure every piece you buy individually comes with all the nuts, bolts, spacers, cables, bearings, and all that junk.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, figure out what stock parts you're going to use and see if they individually add up to more than what a non-running titled XS would cost you, less the value of the parts you won't be using.

Check out the classifieds and craigslist. If I had the dough, I'd have a garage full. ( boy would my wife kill me)

Craig look is a great way to find specific bikes. Just type in make an model and you get them all everywhere.
