Hey guys,
I have a question conserning the quality and grip of these vintage type tires.
How is the grip? I plan on riding in all weather conditions.... only because we have all four seasons in one day where i live... real unpredictable.

I am woundering about these....

for the wifes bike:
Duro HF317-02 Tire 3.25-19"
Avon AM7 Saftey Mileage Mark II Tire 5.00-16"

or

for me.... running 19" front and back
Dunlop K70 3.50-19" Front Tire
If I end up with theses any thoughts about running them front and back?

Obviously the bikes will have a vintage type look to them.

any input will be appreciated... long time since I bought any tires...

Can't really answer for the specific tires you have asked about, but the Firestone replicas have been great. I haven't pushed too hard to figure out where the edge is for grip, but coming from sport bikes they keep me happy going through the corners.

the K70's should be a good tyre, the TT100's are a very good tyre and well known for their ability in the wet. Not sure about the others you mentioned, just be sure not to mix tyre construction types ie bias ply/radial. cheers

I can appreciate your desire for the vintage look. Unfortunately, most of those tires, treads, and compounds are obsolete for a reason. I have friends that run the K70 and the Avon, and for leisure riding, they seem to work fine, but these guys are riding trophy grade bikes and freely admit the tires are a compromise.
I'll be stepping forward about 3 decades in tire technology for mine.
$0.02

I hear what you are saying which is why I asked in the first place. We are not looking to set land speed records or win a race but we sure would like to stay on the road.... upright

Thanks for the reply guys. I appreciate it.
Does anybody have any other suggestions to goods tires.... comprimising the vitages look.... alittle for more function.
Like I said we are not doing any raceing..... :yikes:

Cheers

I have not heard anything but good on the k70's.

A lot of triumph, and bmw guys run them, and love them.

I personally have used the K70s on my RYCA CS-1 cafe bike and I have used the duro 317's on two other cafe bikes (honda CB200 and CB360). Personally, I really liked the k70's. They really have a nice, chunky vintage look to them. THe handling was great, including in the rain. I would definately go with them again if I had the chance.

Hmmm.... 19", 3,5" K70s front and back, anybody feel this is a poor choice.
the price is reasonable too!

TIRES UNLIMITED good prices and good people to deal with.
All kinds of tires and good to ask question they respond. I ran there old school tires on this bike and rode on dry ans wet roads. TC BROTHERS uses this bike in there tire add.

Bridgestone Spitfire S11's. The ideal tire for a daily rider. Dual compound tread, harder in the middle for long wear, softer on the sides for grip. Excellent in the rain.

I just installed a set of irc gs-11's. The tread looks very vintage and they are way cheaper than the speedmaster. Rides really nice too.

If you buy a good brand, you'll get a good tyre these days. The Dunlop vintage range are all made with modern compounds, not the old 70's stuff, just those cool old tread designs! Cheers

The K-70 was a good tire. Just wish it would have lasted a bit longer.
14 mo.s and 5K+ it was through.
Never made me nervous on the pavement. Doesn't handle mud period but isn't too bad on gravel.
