Hello and Happy Thanksgiving to all!

This time of year always makes me smile. People getting together to give thanks then fighting each other on Friday. The best is the quick lesson in physics, especially in displacement, when people deep fry turkeys.

Ive noticed a lot of my Yank 'friends' on Facebook all wishing Happy Thanksgiving, one told me his family rate it at least as, if not more ,important than Christmas , is this how all many Americans feel? Thanksgiving is barely known of by most Brits unless through Hollywood films or from relatives living over the pond mentioning it in 'conversation'..

Yes it is! even better to me I don't have to buy alot of gifts!

XS1961,
Here's a link to what is the standard American Thanksgiving
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thanksgiving

On a retail note, Thanksgiving is the first big holiday for us. The first in the trifecta that is. Meaning Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years.
It is the first "family get-together" since last Christmas. (Easter is another large family time for Christians)
Obviously, even though these are Christian holidays, the retail sector has made these impossible to forget or not celebrate in some way.
Most don't realize that T-Day eve, tonight as I write this, is the biggest day for alcohol sales. Yep, more booze sold today than any other.
Also, the day after T-day, is referred to as "Black Friday". A day of major sales, slashed prices and holiday buying extravaganza!!!!!
Also the largest travel day here in the U.S. Most stay home for Christmas.

See if your gas prices do this. Back home the price would be normal prior to the holidays so everyone would travel, but then when it was time to go back home, say Sunday after Thanksgiving, the price would skyrocket. Easier to just stay home than to not go back home :) They could raise it to $50 per gal. if they wanted when it was time to come back.

Happy Thanksgiving everybody.

Wish we celebrated it over this side of the pond.:(

We Brits hardly have any family get togethers anymore except Christmas which is just an excuse for consuming huge quanties of alcohol.:(

@TeeCat are you about to get your legs back? Since you are busy with motorless cycling we never hear from you.

@I am Carbon BWHAHAHAH BWHAHAHAHA
Hope you used high brass magnums for full penetration
I hear the frozen specics are tough ol things.

While others outside the US don't have the symbolisim or history of Thanksgiving,
please join us today (or any day) in giving Thanks for family and friends.

Hope one and all has a GOOD day.

Good to see you lot! :)

wr and sinking... I have been around, but since I retired in June, I thought this was going to be the Summer Of The Motorcycle for me. Not so. :( I have been so busy with house and yard work that I have only ridden the TX and Ninja 250R a handful of times! :( Might get out a little this weekend if it warms up a bit.

I'll be on more soon, methinks, because I might have to do new rear brake shoes (drum) and have never done it before. Also need to retorque my head bolts... but that I have done after replacing the washers.

So, I'm still around... :)
