and there's one I really like that has gray powdercoated wheels, but couldn't find the pics of it.

You guys who are powdercoating your mags, are you doing em gloss or satin? I plan to do mine shortly. Am def doing the frame gloss, but can't decide if i should do the rims the same, or a more toned down satin finish... and is this a supremely old thread?

Highspeedhamish - You mean if it chips etc?

Yes, I had my tires put on via tire machine and even after sitting for several months and hardening, the machine marked the mags.. nothing you can see from any distance but up close you might see it. With paint, you can at least do touch ups... powder has to be ground off and rebaked.. pain in the arse.

No ones saying what brand the wheels are, what they came off?
Ive got some Kwaka GPZ1100 1981 mags Ive put up on ebay but got to thinking today about fitting the front forks front wheel brakes and mudguard off the kwaka 1100,
reckon Id need to start with the triple trees and use all kwaka from there down, no bids yet so can still take em off

motorbikerx, here's a couple pictures of a mockup I did a couple summers ago with a '82 kz1100 front.

I think all the pics in this thread are stock xs650 Special mag wheels 1978-81

Oh ok well they do look a lot like the Kwaka ones I got here. Same wheel manufacturer maybe?....hmuskets mockup looks good wide glidish tho only about 20mm wider, is it as simple as getting correct head bearings as I doubt it'd go straight on without them unless inner and outer measurement of both head bearings are the same? How easy is the Kwaka front end swap? Air cap forks effectively 2" over with twin discs would have to be a huge improvement over my stock TX 650 front end.

Here is mine, I ran a unibit back through them after I powder coated them which really makes the holes stand out. I wish I had coated them in a semi gloss or something other than flat though.
