some wiring diagrams

If someone wanted to completely by pass everything, just a battery points condensors and coils, how would one do that? Just as test purposes..

Battery + to coil feed wire (Red/White wire) in my simple drawing

Hey Jayel, or anyone....

I have this diagram....currently no turn signals. Could someone please draw in the wiring for turn signals with the original relays and flasher cancel unit. Bike is an 81. I want to wire for the signals when I do the rewire but I will put them on later when I find or make some I like.

Thanks, Have a great weekend.

Curtis, that's a handy thing to know. I use that way of test running a bike. I hook it up like that and just leave the engine stop switch in the off position, If in the on position you will feed power back through the engine stop switch to the rest of the bike.
Works with the TCI too.

a stupid question re: the super simple coils-only, test run set up: what is that rectangle to the left of the battery? thx

Is it possible to run blinkers with Hughs PMA, Pamco and one or two capacitors?

sure would be easy with LEDs and a no load (electronic) flasher, Pamco or any ignition wouldn't have anything to do with it, separate from the lighting/charging systems

hey guy's, i am new to the post. i just picked up a 79 650 special for free, and its in great shape. My friend just retired and didn't have room for the bike. I brought it home with the hope that it would just fire up, only because it ran when it was parked 3yrs ago. It has good compression. However, it has 12.9 volts everywhere, but the lights won't even come on or the starter engage, even when the key is proper. Ignition:confused:

lights won't come on until engine starts check the kill switch, known problem (check for 12v at the coils) you could also check for spark when kicking it over, starter button itself is also suspect, you can find wiring diagrams in the tech section, check for voltage on the red/white on the starter solenoid blue/white is the grounding wire (when starter button is pushed)

Bdaevel,

Check your fuses too.

It would be best if you started a new thread. You'll probably get more eyes on your problem. Click TOPICS at the top of the page, then choose Start New Tread.

Welcome to the site. This place is going to be as valuable as any tool you have.

Good luck.

Would it be a problem to run my tag light wire inside my swing arm and come out near the rear axle on the left side where I plan to put my tag. Id have to drill into the swingarm. Any issues.

looks ok yes good idea to have a main fuse protects everything and the others protect those circuits, easy to isolate problems... just check the alternator wires carefully as to colors green and black is a grounded brush have to isolate it, green and brown you're good to go

"just check the alternator wires carefully as to colors green and black is a grounded brush have to isolate it, green and brown you're good to go

So the digram is based on me having a Green and Brown Wire coming from my brushes Right,... in which case Green to green wire, and Brown to red wire.??

If I have Green and Black, I will let you know.
