Due to lack of interest the January/ February XSOTM contest has been canceled. See you for a new contest next month.

This should generate some uh opinions.....

Any style of XS650 based bike, as long as you have never customized or rescued a bike from the brink before. The bike has to be licensed and ride-able.

Here's how it works:
First, someone "nominates" a bike they'd like to see in this month's competition (post a picture or link to the build thread too), next, someone else "seconds" the nomination, when the bike owner accepts, the bike is in the competition.
First 5 bikes nominated, seconded, and accepted will be entered in the contest/poll.

First time builders; you are encouraged to post a picture of your bike and give us some background to see if you can get someone to else to nominate you.
OK have at it and try to keep this civil.
Expect this contest to wander on into February some time before the voting ends.

Ok....I'm going to throw mine up for nomination. This is my first complete build and first XS650. I started with a non-running $400 1978 XS650 and literally brought her back from the dead. Below is a couple pics and a link to my build thread. Thanks to all that helped me along the way!!

I'm not positive about how this works but I will nominate the ever loving shit out of that thing ^^^^^ if it needs it.

C'mon guys this was the most popular contest idea and we have exactly one bike nominated so far............. Where are all you first time builders? Get you bike out here. remember it's about the build not just the flashy result.

Wish I bid on your bike! The attention to detail and craftsmanship that went into it is the best I've seen on this site!

I suspect that Spade's build has set the bar so high that others are afraid to throw their hat into the ring.......for most of us it would be kind of like bringing a baloney sandwich to a banquet

Yeah I think I agree Guess there we need a poor mans build contest..
Spades says; wish I had bid, is the bike sold?

When the bar is set so high it is no longer a hurdle but a high bar.

Thanks guys. I really didn't mean to play the spoiler here. I still technically own the bike and it is in my posession, but it has been sold to a buyer in Australia. He is making shipping arrangements.

You have made a beautiful bike, lines look good and it just ticks all the boxes for me.

Congrats on your sale.

Hope the buyer knows what he is doing and has done his research for his own sake. Been doing a fair bit on importing bikes and modified bikes have a lot of restrictions and hoops, (approved engineers certificates and plans and gov't approvals on those certificates and plans before welding), that have to be gone through. Your bike would have to be modified so much to get it on the road it would not look anywhere near what it looks now.

This is my 78' standard that came in boxes except for the engine. added pipes, mufflers, pma, and carbs. Click on photo.

Looks great tonyc! Would it run a little better with plug wires?

If tonyc is willing, I nominate his bike. Nice clean lines with a touch of British to it.
