Trying to decide which powder coat shade/texture of black to paint my frame. I was thinking Satin black but when I went to go drop off my frame to the Powder Coaters, They must have had 15 different shades of blacks, textures etc to choose from... Flat, to 10%black on up. They also had these interesting textures as well. What are you guys using for black on your frame? Post pics if you can.

I just told my powder coater gloss black but I'm doing a restoration. I powder coated everything I could get my hands on including the chrome engine mount and side panels. Just make sure you chase all the threads after.

Came out great! I was told they would mask all the holes including Engine mounts, Neck etc..

Did my frame and bits with "Wet Black" by Tiger Drylac ... awesome!!

Thanks Glenn - I'll ask the powder coaters if they carry that so I can see a sample.

They did mask most of the holes/threads but I still had to chase the threads. The frame and parts were sandblasted and then everything was out-gassed before powder so I guess there's always some residue. Here's another shot, Its really not that thick but very glossy.[/IMG]

Wet and glossy! What percentage gloss? I was looking at the 60% gloss finish.

Ha. Everyone has different tastes! Im keeping the engine raw looking except for the left and right covers which im polishing. I thought gloss frame, and gloss valve covers (my chrome is farcked) would contrast nicely with the slightly grimey raw engine.

Everybody does black. For mine , I went with something a little different. Take a look at my pic- I used iron glimmer from tiger drylok- it has the slightest bit of texture and has a slight bit of shimmer to it in sunlight. It's a matte finish. Its super durable and does not show scratches. You can see I used it on swing arm, wheels, triple, engine side covers, and fork lowers. Once I de- tab the frame, I will have rest of frame done in same color. I guess my point is, don't be afraid to go out on a limb and pick something besides plain black.

I'm a fan of matching the frame color to the tins. I would do this myself but I'm going with a flake paint job and flake on the frame of a daily rider is a bad idea. I dig that wrinkle black though.

I decided to go with Metallic/Gun metal silver powder. I saw a frame in the shop with this color and lit looked awesome. The silver looks like this.

My brother had his Audie A6 rims done in this color. Yeah that is bad ass. Was toying with it at one time.
