I can barely read my back tire and I can't read anything on my front. I have a 1981 Yamaha XS650 Special II.

I want to know...

A) What size tire do I need for the front and the rear?

B) Do I need a tube or a tubeless design tire?

Thanks!

You have I believe a 19 inch front and an 18 inch rear. So you could buy for example an 19x3.5 and a 18x4.0. You will need tubes as well, those spokes holes don't keep the air in very well..;-)

Thanks... I'm pretty sure the 100/90x19 (front) and 130/90x16 (rear) spec is correct.

I have exhausted HOURS of Google searching. Can anyone point me to some decent tires and tubes??? I bought a set of Kenda K671 but they are tubeless so I don't think I can use them. Can someone help me? I've really hit a wall here. :banghead:

Thanks! I'll let you guys know how they work out!

Get new rim strips while you are at it . Are you mounting the tires yourself ? If you are and plan on doing your own in the future, invest in some good tire irons and some rim savers. I use three 16" tire irons with rim savers , lots of soapy water and baby powder on the new tube. There are some videos on Utube that give you good step by step .
