Thinkin about starting an xs club in portland

Hey guys, problem is 3 things....

1. My bike doesn't get wet... which means no ride till its nice out.
2. My wife and I are trying to buy a house = no time and stress
3. there is no 3 just two other excuses, I'll get on it

I'll should be up and running again in about 2 weeks. Ready to roll. Paint can wait till next winter:)

lawrgj, what if on our first big bar gang fight it's raining out? Is your bike going to melt? Not all good gang fights happen in the sunshine.. ;)

Yeah who's going to let you ride nut to butt if your bike melts? ...I mean I've seen gang bangers do that on the video... But I don't think that's the gang we want here, is it?

My seats not big enough for that type of action. I can put you on the handlebars, "ole BMX style" like my friends and I did when we were heading to 7eleven as kids.

I was hoping to have my xs done by this spring but it is taking longer... Can i show up on one of my other bikes? I would not want to kill the badassness with the wrong set of wheels... ;)

Show up on a bicycle, It's all good. I may ride my DR 650:) I'm getting close with the XS though. trying to figure a custom 2 into 1 throttle cable for it. I hate that 2 throttles coming off of the grip on the 75 model.

lawrgj our fearless leader is too busy house hunting to lead us...

Rode my '78 today for the first time with the pma and capacitor setup. It ruled. ran super smooth, kicked it on with the headlight on. all of north portland could hear me, I'm sure. good times.

My hope for this outfit is that we will have a pool of diverse skills locally available. They can be professional with appropriate renumeration or simply friends helping friends. Any one out there who can completely wire a custom XS650 without relying on a chewed up stock harness?

I am geographically challenged so I can't hang with you tough guys:(
But, are you looking for something like this, mattomachu? http://www.dimecitycycles.com/vinta...1-mikuni-throttle-cable-assembly-002-225.html

I'm moving back to Bend oregon on Thurs! So excited to be coming back to central Oregon! WHoo!

I'm sure I could make it up to Portland a few times this summer. Maybe I'll bring the fat tracker with me. Turbo bike is going to stay in Southern Oregon for a few months while we line up a house or rent another place.

I'm in! Sign me up! Be back to PDX in mid April, been 6 months without a motorcycle so I'm ready to ride.

YEEEAHHW!!!

SINKING78 yep that's what I was looking for. Found 2 over the weekend from a local guy 15$ waiting on the new throttle to arrive. Going to try a simple motion pro cr dirt bike throttle.

Beemerboy have you switched over to PMA yet? If not that would be the first thing to invest in a permanent magnetic alternator. That and pamco ingnition. Then you strip all the wires off that bike and run a few simple wires and the bike will fire up and charge great. I wouldn't even attempt to try to patch together 30+ year old wiring. (Well I actually did at first and kept thinking I was having carb issues, but it was bad wiring making it run like crap). This is the diagram that I use. You can sub the capicitor out for a small battery if need be. I'm intimidated by electrical stuff, but was able to run this with success.

Matto-- Thanks for the info. Even I can appreciate the simplicity of the above. Is the blue cylinder to the left of the key the starter? I fully intend to use Hugh's PMA as well as Pamco. I had Hugh shave and polish my fork lowers and they are beautiful. Nice guy to deal with as well. I have a keyed ignition switch that Pre-grid says will take the amps to the starter without a solenoid. At my age I don't buy green banannas and need an electric leg. Please send me a PM with e-mail. Might need to hire you for wiring.
