Hey guys, remember me? Been a while hu. Well, I'm working on a few new idea's and I thought I'd come here for some advice. These aren't XS specific questions, but eh there's more than XS's holding us together... we all love motorcycles.

I'm trying to get a general idea of how much used motorcycles are worth. Obviously that's a pointless questions because the range is some much. So here's the scenario: You are a motorcycle newbee, maybe a one bike in your past, but you're no expert and you're in the market for a "vintage motorcycle."

Here's some info on this hypothetical bike:
  • It runs great, you can ride it away.
  • New tires, new battery, no rust in the tank, clean & tuned carbs.
  • It's got a title and is street legal.
  • The motors been rebuilt, new gaskets, new rings, honed cylinders, compression in spec.
  • It's got 6000 miles on the odo.

Here's the bikes and lets say these are photos of the specific bikes you're gonna buy:

1. 1975 Honda XL175

2. 1974 Honda CB350 Four

Okay, so let me know how much you'd pay for each one, or how much you think the average motorcycle wanna-be would pay :bike:

Thanks guys.

if the 350/4 is a runner and in that kinda shape, it will get 1500...maybe even 2 here.

XL would probably get 1200-1500

KZ might get 1000-1500

The cb might get 2000 to 2500 give or take.

Bikes dont need any safety inspections or titles to be bought or sold here in Saskatchewan....so shit fetches money, and you pay a premium for better than shit.

I got lucky, My 74 TX650 was free....and not even close to a runner...but mostly there. The KZ650 was 700 bucks from a friend, and it was a runner and mostly there. I just had to do the dirty work to get it going reliably. The 75 XS650 i sold to by the Kwak, was 600 dollars...and it was a pile of rusty shit, I got 1300 bucks for that bike and a second motor i built.

Probably get half of that here in Pa. IF they're titled and running.

around a grand for one and three. grand and a half to two grand for the 350f, maybe 2500 if you wait for the right chump. the 750 i would guess 1250 give or take a few. what are your thoughts?

Honestly I have no idea how much good running bikes are worth, which is why I'm asking. I buy old shit that needs an huge amount of work because that's part of the fun for me.

There is just not much demand for old beaters in my area. Big bore dual purpose bikes would be the exception.

Time of year is everything, first warm week in spring and the squids will hand over stupid amounts of cash for runners. It's 20 fricking degrees this morning.

Ain't dat da troot? I check the local Craigslist every day (looking for the right deal on a 2-stroke street bike) and have been watching prices climb over the last couple of weeks.

I'm a cheap SOB and the prices on some of these 25-30 year old bikes are just crazy.

Sorely tempted by a 72 CL450 this morning looks very good, low miles $1400.
5 years ago I would have been thinking $200

Pre 80's Cb's and all 650 xs's for sure. I've seen stupid asking prices for those. People see a build and want it to look like it as much as possible.

prices here are hugely inflated. my buddy had a barely running 350 4 and he sold it for 1800 bucks. They are pretty cool bikes.
I'd pay maybe 800 for the xl, 1000 for the 350, 0 for the kawasaki and 5$ for the dohc cb750.
Are you actually looking to buy a smaller bike?
