have you ever come off your XS ?

I've got a mate I ride with in Aus whenever we get the chance and for some reason he does that from time to time, usually at a red traffic light. :wtf: I don't bother helping him stand his Griso up any more, maybe it'll help him remember to put a boot down when he stops.

It is funny seeing it happen. I seen a guy do it on his goldwing. And when they stood it back up they dropped it on the otherside.

A friend of mine has done it a few times but what happens to him his boot laces get wrapped around his forward controls and he can't put his foot down. Now he tucks his laces in after he fell over twice.

I was 18 and just bought a used 1972 Honda CL 175. I had barely got my license and was riding with a friend so I thought I'd go through the gears really cool like when I found myself diving for the pavement and my bike behind me somewhere. I figured I mistook the front brake for the clutch and in a microsecond I was flying. Broke my wrist and tore up my knees. My friend brought me to the hospital on his bike. My Mom was so mad she slapped me and told me to sell the bike. I fixed it and continued to ride. Before dyslexia was invented, they called it stupid.

hahaha I'm restoring on of the SL 175's right now. How'd you like that thing?

If I remember, it was a fun bike. It was also my first bike. I stripped the spline on the kick starter just before I sold it so it is a delicate thing but it was never meant for the abuse I gave it.

Been off a couple of times, not on my xs or anything here, back in the 70's I was riding my sportster much too fast and peaked a hill, went airborne came down on the side busted my leg and trashed the bike...lesson, dont drive well lubricated...a year or two before I came here I was on my Harley Ultra in a hurry to get to some friends house, was listening to tunes with my mind in outer space, got to some curves I had been through a thousand times, going about 30 mph too fast and high sided, messed up every piece of fiberglass on the bike, broke a couple of ribs and punctured a lung. ...Lesson, dont ride with your head up your ass....

Way too many times. Never on an XS (yet) though there was a very close call involving a front end wobble on an XS1B back in the day.
Compared to crotch rockets or "too big" battle wagons I think riding an XS reduces the odds.
