GSXR Inverted Fork Install

I'm working on something similar with 04r6 forks. How are you guys dealing with the axle diameter issue? Getting the right bearings is easy but that hollow shaft in the center of the hub is my question. Can I just take it to a machine shop and have it bored out to fit the new axle?

Thanks for all of the great information. Unfortunately I wasn't able to work on this project this week due to a very crazy work week. I will definitely be taking lots of pictures and notes as I go along with this. Please hang on I promise to get going on the project this week!

A little OT but how hard would it be to run a gsxr wheel and brake setup in the back on an xs650 with a stock style swingarm?

My question about the hyabusa front end still stands as well. The stem looks different than normal gsxr forks.

I say just start the swap! I did a 2003 fork onto a 79 special and it was a peice of cake. I used the stem and tree's from the gsxr I also used the stronger hollow gsxr axle with the stock xs wheel. All you have to do is trim the lower neck and a bearing swap trim the jam nuts and your done . Brakes were a nightmere, stock rotors are to small I would have a custom rotor made if I do it again. I redrilled and older rotor 92 gsxr with a huge offset to fit the xs bolt pattern It worked but it was kinda hack. I'll try to load a photo but there are some under pic. section here under cafe without a plan I think
Good Luck

i just picked up my almost finished cafe project i finished timing got it starting and running great took it for a test ride i noticed i may need to replace gaskets if so i just may go all in and do a full customization and do a fork swap while i am at it what can you recommend for me if i attempt the fork swap that way i dont have a nightmare break job like you did

I guess you could run gsxr front wheel too ? That will make it real easy I wanted to use the xs wheel so that's where I had trouble finding a rotor Good Luck

Ducati rotorsapparently fit quite well, I don't know which one off what bike though, but they are pricey! :yikes:
