Thinkin about starting an xs club in portland

I broke some spokes on my DR last weekend so been back riding the xs. It's low and loud. I can't meet up this week, but Next Tuesday I suggest a meet up at APEX on Division. Or some of you can go there even tonight and mingle. A huge amount of Vintage bikes and interesting folks meet up there 7ish on Tuesdays. http://apexbar.com/ They also have motorcycle parking. There is usually a few XS's. Or starting June 20th Krugers farm on Sauvie Island is starting their concert series again every Thursday evening. http://www.krugersfarmmarket.com/summerconcerts.html It's a nice ride down there on 30 then cruise around the Island a bit. I think they have discounts for bike parking. (it's usually 10$ a carload, so I'm almost positive there is some discount). They have food, wine, beer, soft drinks, etc.

So I was at Apex last Tuesday. Rode the XS in with a guy on an ole cb, and another on a 79 Kawi Triple. Didn't see any of you guys there. I guess we disintegrated before we assimilated. few old Hondas and Harleys. I'm going to Japan for the next month trying to bring back the Bosozuko style to USA... This could be us.....

Keep trying, we can do this! My XS is running pretty damn well these days and hopefully I've got gmail to stop putting these alert emails in my spam folder.

Hi all, I'm new to the forums. My dad just passed away and I got his 1978 XS650 Special. I would be interested in going to local get togethers, I am up in Longview, WA 50 miles north of Portland.

I'm in, and I know lots of other dudes with xs650s. there will be a few at this show. https://www.facebook.com/events/207990216011272/permalink/207990229344604/

Griinder, if you sold that seat in your profile pic to a guy in Hillsboro, it's on my bike now! I bought it from him for the pan and foam, had it tapered and redone in tuck n' roll marine grade vinyl, and put it on my '75. I still have the brown leather if you want it back! lol

To anyone who reads this, I'm a Portlander anxious to expand my network for parts, ideas, etc. Not an eBay fan, I prefer to meet locally, look, touch (the item) and take it home that day - or not.

With that said, I'm looking for a gas tank for a 1975 in decent shape (no dents). Paint doesn't matter since I'm going to try different colors on it until I decide on a favorite. Please shoot me a PM, reply here, or email teflon97239@yahoo.com.

Thanks in advance. Looking forward to meeting some other 650 riders/parts traders!

I have a couple tanks that I am not going to use, but they both have some small dents here and there. I have a few other spare parts laying around, is there anything else you need? In addition, I am an aircraft mechanic and have, or have access to, almost any tool you could need for these bikes if you ever need some help.

Is that your current zip in your name? I currently live in SW myself, right near Multnomah Village!

VosaME, howdy neighbor. Yeah, I'm a half mile up the hill from Hillsdale Pub (as good a landmark as any).

I appreciate knowing you have tanks. Any idea what year(s)? Caps and petcocks? Will hold that possibility as a backup plan if I'm unable to find one without dents. I'm hoping to limit my labor to sanding, priming and spray painting. The plan is to ride the bike with different colors for a week or two at a time for the rest of the summer... see how I feel about each one before I get real and do it right.

I'd like to see your stash of parts. Busy weekend coming, but maybe some eve next week after work? Phone in PM.

Haha yeah, I believe I did sell that seat to a Hillsboroite... lets get this rolling! It's about time! I propose a meet somewhere in close in n/ne, and then a ride around Sauvie? maybe up Germantown and down McNamee or something? I can do pretty much whenever...

ok, what about we all meet at Hillsdale pub and go ride around and make noise some sunday afternoon before the weather starts to suck?

I'm in! My bikes shedding parts left and right, lost a blinker cover last week and one of my pod filters over the weekend. Lets do this before my rear wheel rattles off.

I'm in too. Just found this thread while seaching for something else. Didn't read the whole thing, but I'm in NoPo and would like to hand with other XS nerds. Let me know.

Im in north too, lets try again! THIS SATURDAY, the 10TH, meet in north portland, ride somewhere, ride back, talk about motorcycles!!!

Saturday works for me too! I will not be on the XS but it will have two wheels and make noise! Just let me know when and where

I sure hope this all works out! I'm in Salem, just a stone's throw from Portland.

My XS is getting closer everyday to being roadable. Need to figure out headlight (or lack thereof) crap, bleed the front brake system, and put tags on it.

Not this weekend for me, but very soon.

I'm busy all weekend. My wife usually gets Saturday and I usually get Sunday to play around (we have a toddler son), but this weekend is already packed. Some Saturday afternoons are good for me, but weeknights are really the best to have a beer and do some bench racing. Sorry, but having a family makes me a lot less flexible.
