Clipping Advance Springs

I have a 1975 XS 650 and I saw a post on here about advance springs. There was a video showing how the the unit should snap back mine did not snap back. So I took off the springs and the weights cleaned everything then I clipped the springs put everything back together and it snaps back as it should. Before all of this I retimed my bike cleaned the carbs got it running in tip top shape. Since I clipped the springs in the ignition advance unit will I have to retime the bike or should everything be fine?

No retime. Did you lube the advance rod before you clipped the springs.?

No I didn't but I rebuilt the engine last year and I did lube it then. I haven't been riding it much.

I did however clean all the posts on the advance unit and re greased them and it still didn't snap back so i clipped the springs I only clipped about a half a spring
