Well...I haven't had time to finish the 77 yet but this one fell into my lap locally. 72 frame with a 71 kick only engine. The frame is powder coated and it's got a new harness and runs but dies off idle. I'm not sure where I'm going with it yet but leaning towards stockish period cafe.

Is that your bedroom?

I wish....that's a friend's home "shop"......very sweet set up.

I was just going to say that this must be one heck of a man cave! Bed, air hockey table, workout gear, I'm sure there's a liquor cabinet or bar somewhere in there! Oh, and a big screen?

I love it! Work on the bike, get tired, go to sleep!.. It's a win win!.... :D

This is not the best photo, but wanted to share my XS. It's a 1979 Standard that was in a storage unit since 1990. Been slowly getting it road-worthy over the last few weeks, had a bit of a melt-down after it started leaking oil at the head gasket but seem to be on the right track now.

here's a terrible picture of my 82 all stitched up. been riding the piss out of it, since it was apart for most of summer. pictures dont do the goldflake/goldpearl paint justice.

My summer project, also my first and only motorcycle!

**Pardon the blue electrical tape, I needed to hold the seat in place while I was taking measurements for the bolts.

nice stock bike in good condition and unmolested ? nice find

makes you wonder what is out there locked away in barns and sheds don't it :wink2:
guess you re-torqued the head huh !?

leave it as is, new tires tomorrow and working out the rest of the kinks from sitting so long. it's in such nice shape and is basically untouched except for a new set of bars.

ya, always hear stories about crazy barn finds, never thought i'd come across one (though this is not that crazy, just a very nice original XS). And yes I did get the head re-torqued and seem to have worked

79standard good to hear you are leaving it stock.
When you get round to counting I think you will find only a handful of the 79 F's.
Lotsa 77's, 78's, 79 SF's but very few of the F models.
Could be I'm incorrect. I don't think so but I'm partial.
If and when you may need to repaint the paint codes can be found on the old 650rider site.
Glad the re-torque worked out.

Got it like this in July

Now as it sits. Currently my daily rider.

In the process of making a hole where the battery is, but like I said daily rider so can't make mistakes.

What are you going to do with those side covers?

I really need a set....

~Revanoff~

Assuming you're asking me, I doubt they'd fit on your bike, they're slotted at the top.

Also I'm keeping everything (well, most everything...) for a possible return to stock form.
