so I fried my pamco and coil, I'm an idiot I know. So what's my best option? do I have to just order a new pamco or could I get just a new "board" to swap out for cheaper?

You can get just the board its like $65. Also need a coil! Been there done that and it sucks.... no worries when you run a capacitor instead of battery. That is if its kick only.

Ok, so I recently bought the bike, still trying to get familiar with the ins and outs of a street bike, and I believe it has a pma kit, could I go batteryless then?

Fried pamco and coil might not be useful now for ignition. So you have to buy a new one for your xs650.

If it has a pma you can go batteryless if you don't want electric start. You'll just need a capacitor in place of the battery.

Alright, I'll check into that, planning on kick only so I like that idea. So what do I need to do to get a board for my pamco? I can't seem to find just the board for sale anywhere. I messaged pamcopete but am still waiting for a response, I'm sure he just stays busy and gets lots of pm's.

rider119,

Go to the site www.yamahaxs650.com On the right side there is information for the standard PAMCO including ordering info. The pull down has a plate only available for $63.95 plus shipping. Comes with a two year warranty.

Alright, guess I missed it, thanks. And I'm assuming when you say "plate" you are talking about the green "computer chip" part?

Also I need the housing that the pamco goes in, am I going to have to get that off ebay or the classifieds here or something like that? And I need a coil, would like to get them all from the same place if possible as to not have to pay shipping on 3 items.

rider119,

The plate is the whole deal except for the rotor. It includes the aluminum plate that takes the place of the points plate and comes complete with the associated PC board which in turn is populated with all of the electronic components that make a PAMCO ignition. This complete assembly is tested and warranted for two years. You will reuse your rotor that contains the trigger magnets to make a compete PAMCO.

We do not sell the PC board itself as it cannot be assembled and tested unless it is mounted on the aluminum plate.

Ok yeah I gotcha, I wasn't even thinking about the aluminum plate and rotor being separate pieces. haha Alrighty, well I really appreciate your help. I'm assuming you don't sell coils on you site?

What coil should I get? I believe the one I fried was the xsperformance 2.5ohm high output coil. Should I go with a direct replacement or another unit?

There are lots of coils that will work, the Accel 140403 is one. Ebay is your friend.
