I'm looking for shops, last plating I had done was in the 70's LOL (I checked, that shop is gone) I think regs for handling chrome waste have really thinned the field. Nasty stuff.
Thought a picks and fails thread would make a good resource here.
Reply with Shop, location, experience? Fire at will boys.
Any home brew (caswells?) plating reports are welcome too.
I'm guessing the usual applies, good, fast, cheap, pick any two.
I figure late fall is a good as time a year as any, wouldn't want to wade into the spring rush.

This is the guy that my Dad uses for his restorations, he ain't cheap but he does nice work and takes care of his customers. He actually lost a few pieces of the car in the video below, and actually bought another car to replace the parts he lost. He eventually found the lost parts! The vid is kinda hokey, but you can see the quality of the plating. Plus it's fun to brag on my Dad ...

IIRC it was Northern Plating on the isthmus in Madison, they did decorative and hard chrome and other plating also. They hard chromed a CB750 rod journal for me that held up VERY well.

Didn't look hard enough, Northern plating is STILL there!

What do you want plated? I know a guy who does gold shotgun triggers.

Bunch of early bike chrome parts, chain guard, don't you know. If I ever find one without acid stains because the battery vent tube wasn't hooked up.............

I'll probably take a few down there and see what it will run. Gotta run to Madison Tuesday anyways.

Hi Gary,
I recently started sending all my hardware to M&K plating in Texas . I sent 17 lbs of hardware the first time . They did such a nice job I sent them more . I went through my rusty bins and sent them everything I had . I wish I knew about them sooner . They will do clear ( silver ) yellow or black plating . I couldnt be happier . They charged me 40.00 plus 26 shipping for each job . I'll attach some pics . Don't clean anything just send as is .ps they don't take credit cards .
Regards,
CPKID

Atlantic Coast platting In TN. They turn out some very nice work for a very reasonable price. Dad has been getting stuff from them for years. Pauls, Librandi's use to be the high end, but they have got crazy on prices last we checked. Pops has chrome from 30 years ago that is still in EXCELLENT shape. Not saying they are the best place, but they are damn damn good. Pic of Dads old shovel that he is redoing after 30 years. The transmission is the orig chrome from Atlantic. Will get a better shot.

CPKID that looks great, can't really see details in the pics though, I am guessing at that price there is no preplate buffing involved?

Hi Gary,
No pre plate clean up by me . They clean and tumble parts pre plate . However I threw some really rusty stuff in like an old horn cover and if it's really bad it certainly won't turn out good . I think the next stuff I send I'll use my wire wheel on anything I want really good . Springs really come out great .
I'm going to send my spokes there next build and powder rims to save some money .
As I said I took all the rusty hardware from years of builds and sent it in . I now have nice clean plated hardware . If you buff it it really shines as well . Throw everything you have in a box and get it done ...you will be glad you did .
Regards,
Dave
If you want better pics let me know . I also found Vin sticker reflective sheet paper . I'll be printing stickers soon . I'll post when I do it . Should look very close to stock.

Oh stickers, I like stickers!

Place sounds good I will check the local guys first then maybe try your guys.

Biggie for me is chain guards, the acid streaks suck. then front fenders and bolt heads.
