Mounted the fake oil tank today! I was going to tick it off the list but it is already!:(

Oh well!

Made some mounting brackets using good ol' L-shaped brackets. I drilled the holes a bit larger, bent the one arm another 90deg to make a U-shaped bracket. I then drilled a few holes in the seat pan, and in the electrics box, added a few nuts and bolts, and it's all done!

Yup, key still fits!:D

I also added two copper tubes for the wires to exit, I don't trust the thin sharp tin, it would most definately rub through some wire and short the whole darn bike out!!

I also found a place to put the key cover while the key is in the ignition!!:D

I think I may have to get another tin and add the knob on the other side, I just like symmetry!!

I was going to add the horn, but it's so big and ugly, I just don't know where to put it to hide it away!! Any suggestions??

Your getting that list shortened up pretty good Airwolfie!
Just wondering how thin is the tin on that electrics tank?
These bikes will vibrate apart something too light weight.
Didn't mean to sound like I'm picking or anything.:D

Thanks John! The tin is quite thin!(hey that rhymes!) But I have made an additional bracket on the inside so the tin is sandwiched between two thick bits of bracket, I think it should be OK! Time will tell, worst case, I need to make a thicker one!

Plus I can't afford a big thick fancy expensive one!!!!

Someone on another forum just mentioned I should be careful that the magnets on the carbs might affect something or other in the carbs, so I'll probably just bung it on the tank or the tin itself.

SO tonight I got a visitor with some goodies! I got these grips with some brass levers I bought off epay,so they were just lying about doing nothing. but then I got thinking and, together with the help of my mate, he managed to fabricate some hardware to change them to my footpegs!!:D

11178848743_0b16ba4b8e_b.jpg

They have a solid inside with a collar at the one end, and the bolt goes right through, and the bolt head is covered over with a nice collar. I like it a lot!!

Next I will need to fab up a bracket for them, and I was thinking of getting a load of o-rings and bung them over, or something to give me a bit of grip. The brass is too thin to get them knurled or grooves cut in,so I will have to come up with something else.

I'm really pleased with the end result though!! Thanks Dave!

Look what came in the post today!!

Really nervous, because I'mnot good with this electric magic!!

Any points or guidance is appreciated!!

Yeeeeeeeeeees !

you won't regret it my friend . :D
this may help.

I mistook the idle advance mark for the full advance mark on the stator doh ! which someone kindly pointed out.
You need to set the crank mark to the line on the stator which is the furthest away from the F mark ie full advance.

Sweet Man That will look good under that points cover.
Has any one heard from ANLAF lately?

Funny you should say that Carbon I was thinking the same thing myself today. his last youtube vid was 2 months ago!
Hope he is ok .

hey AW I see you also bought a Boyer regulator ? (their description is a 'Power Box' wtf is that supposed to be !?

Have you already got a PMA (permanent magnet alternator) to go with it ?

That Boyer power unit (regulator )won't work with an original alternator .You'll need a PMA to go with it .

What units did you buy from bransden ? I've just tried to wade through their website and I have to say it is the most confusing, unfriendly and unhelpful site I think I've ever visited. Its appallingly bad.

Everything is written in upper case and written by someone who clearly has no idea how to write a clear technical instruction sheet. It reminds me of something we used to cut and paste with letteraset and photocopy on a copier before computers came along ...shakes head

Thanks guys! I do hope it will go well! Still got a while to go befor I fire her up, but it's getting closer!!

Peanut, the "power box" is a reg/rec AND capacitor in one! NO NEED FOR A BATTERY!!!

Maybe that's why they call it that??

I do have an uprated PMA off Ants in the UK forum, he has used this with his, so it should be fine.

I got so confused on the boyer site. I found these guys, and I then e-mailed them with all my details and specs, and they told me what would best suit my needs.

http://www.gremlinracetech.com/product/BBMP

They are really on the ball and super quick with their e-mails! Also VERY helpful with any silly questions I asked them! Plus aftermarket support, they said to call them if I were to struggle! I can't fault them anywhere, I even got the parcel 2 days after I ordered this! and I ordered it on thursday night/friday morning!!(about 12h10AM!)

Give them an e-mail with all your bike's spec's and bike year, and they will point you in the right direction!

Oh yeah, I found that vid on youpoop, and bookmarked it! Thanks!

I have rearranged the done tasks to the top, to see if the list would look better.........

I have also added four more to the list of to-do's:(

BUT! I have installed the Boyer ignition, and the coils, and the hydraulic clutch cable! So that is three more off the list!! 14 down, 30 to go!:banghead::shrug::thumbsup:

A couple of pics.......

I'm not sure what to do with this little box, but it really needs to go there or thereabouts.....

Coil wires are on, but I haven't ticked them off the list yet, I'll explain in a bit.......

So the spark plugs are NGK 2412 BP7ES's, andI got myself some spark plug resistor covers with the Boyer kit.

The problem is, they don't marry up!! I pushed as hard as I could without breaking them, but they just won't go onto the plug!!

Some pictures........

Am I missing something here? Or am I just too stupid to do this??? The male part seems way too big to fit into the female part.

I am dumbstruck, can anyone clarify this? Or did I buy the wrong plugs perhaps? I did get them off Yambits, so I ASSUMED they are the right ones? I would have thought both being off the same company, that they would just fit. Guess I was wrong............
