Hello,

Starting a build thread. Not much done yet, but I feel like I've got a good start.

Build Specs:
81 xs650 special
ardcore hardtail
cole foster tank
drag bars
Brushed aluminum bits
spoked wheels
Dual headlight (speed triple)

I will be fabricating some parts and hope to play around a bit with blacksmithing techniques. Do not really know what I am doing but that's the fun of it for me. Here is a picture of my homemade forge, powered by hair dryer.

Decided to go with the ardcore choppers hardtail. Took exactly 12 weeks from the date of order to my front door. Frame quality is excellent.

Covers still need a bit of work, but love the look of brushed aluminum and it is saving me some time.

Bro sweet view out that back window. I warn you if you go with a DNA Springer you'll be looking like a good number of us. Ever since Spades built his ride with an Ardtail he has had a loyal following (me included)

Finally got it into a roller. Ardcore hardtail went on without a hitch, just some massaging to get everything lined up properly. Couple of questions.

What has everyone running an ardcore done for lowering of front forks? I put legs all the way up until they hit the handlebar but it still looks a bit high.

I am guessing I will need to make spacers, but do most still run stock rear axle? if so I guess spacers would need to be added inside and outside of axle plates?

I am ordering this cole foster tank, has anybody bought from these guys before? do you know about bungs on the bottom of the tank and are they in a good spot for xs650? no pictures on sight.
