Ok . Just got done the XS1B . I always liked the 73 model ( go figure ) . Well I found one on Craig's list and jumped on it . I already got it running . Tank was good . Gave carbs a quick cleanup and rebuilt petcocks from used stuff . Put in new plugs used condenser and used points . It ran strong and shifted well . I'll need to go over everything again , but I needed to know if it would run before I ripped it apart . No deep rust anywhere. It was in someone's garage , and last ran in 99 . The condenser was bad that's why it was parked . Every bike tells a story . It was waiting for me to save it ;)
I'm a stock guy so it will be restored to it's former glory . I'll keep you posted .
Regards,
CPKID

Getting there . Working on wiring now . Still no word on my hardware I sent out to get plated. Fork seals were really tough to get out, but the new ones are in . Need to rebuild carbs and petcocks next . Engine needs a good detailing . Can't put engine in until I get hardware back . I'll keep posting progress.

Builds going well . My buddy came over Sunday and helped me lift engine in . Got my hardware back from the plater . It looks great . I sent more out to get done . Have to finish hooking up electrical next . Will rebuild carbs and petcocks after that . I didn't replace tires yet . Doing all the labor first . Don't know how far I'm going yet . This should turn out nice . Signed up for that group build . Want to get this complete and take my parts bike and make something unique .

Cpkid, your bike is coming along great. Always love to see an early model brought back.
Powder coat on the frame came out nice.

Making progress . Electrical is done with the exception of putting in the headlight . Need to detail engine some more . Have a list of small Mikes XS parts I need yet . Have to rebuild the front disc brake assembly . That and carbs and petcocks and that should be it. The weather is turning cold here . I don't think I'll be putting any fluids in this bad boy until the spring . I might start on next build and leave this baby wait for the spring thaw.

Just about done . Need to finalize some cabling and get a tach cable . Also need to clean the inside of the tank . I like it . The paint is all original . I also can detail the engine some more . It could use new tires and tubes .
I'm going to worry about the rest in the spring . It's time to piece together my Mad Max build . Funds are low and I can start fabricating next bike .

Hi Gary,
All stock . It came from a Rusty 73 , but the seat was a gem . It was a compete 73 put away for 20 years.
Regards,
CPKID

This is the bike it came off of . This is the other one I'm rebuilding now for the 2014 build off . I took all painted covers and seat off this bike to complete above bike . This engine had 3750 miles on it and was seized . I have since took apart and replaced a bent valve . It should be a gem .

Regards,
CPKID

Nice find on your 73 you did a good job getting it back together. I also had a new one in 73 but liked my friends 72 better. I think the 73's are harder to find in good shape.
