xs650 build off 2014!!

I was never good at buffing, that's why I bought a flat black truck lol.

A buddy of mine used to drive a black 89 F150. He kept a can of black Krylon in his tool box and would walk around his truck every week or two "touching up" whatever nicks, dents and scrapes he'd managed to collect since the last time. Didn't matter to him that his truck was gloss and his rattle can was flat... Damn thing never rusted out though.

Hey all!
Well not alot to report for January on my build, going slow with alot of decisions out of the way.

I finally found an answer to my front wheel dilemma and bought a really nice front Drum wheel from an RD350 which is supposed to have a 17mm axle, so i'm hoping to pick it up tomorrow in appleton, and then i'll hopefully get it laced to one of my 18" rear aluminum Gutter Rims. I may order my tires tonight also since now i know i will have 18" front and rear of the same sizes.

I finally got my Kangaroo 1/4 inch lace I ordered forever ago so hopefully i'll be able finish my seat, but they sent me a dark brown instead of Black lace, I haven't dyed the seat yet so maybe i can work with that. I really don't want to wait to return and receive the right one, so i may just buy another Spool of Black and keep the dark brown spool for future seats.

I also bought the large blast cabinet vs the benchtop one on the recommendation from Solidlex, from Harbor Freight as well as a 20 ton press from there too, and since i'm heading down to pick up my new hub i may go buy a few more goodies from harbor freight like a benchtop belt/disc sander and a parts washer if they are still on sale or i can find the 20% off coupon i had.

Also I finally got my Hobart welder back from my buddy who borrowed it forever ago it seems. I can't wait for the smell of Hot Metal! LOL

So there it is, Pic's next month for sure & I hope everyone experiencing this sub zero weather crap is staying warm, It's supposed to get down to -45 wind chill tonight "Fuck It's Cold!" it's actually -23 right now without windchill!!!!

Keep Rocking!

My Jan update is the same as last, I was hoping to get started on it this month, but work has been busy and family has had the flu stretched out for a bit, but last kid is over it. Feb better bring some results for me,,, on a side note, How about the price of Propane??? were at $4/gal now :-(

Pipes, bars, and controls...done.

Unfortunately these aren't for my build off bike...But I will be using all of these items on my B.O.B.

JumpStreet Customs Force Upsweeps, Tall Boy Panzers, Gen2 Mids (the mids are actually for my bike)

February update... Thanks to work and being so busy I have been able to get absolutely nothing done. Whomp whomp whomp

I'm making some progress . Powder coated the rims last Saturday . I hope I like the black rims . Had the Old spokes plated clear .
Also had some time to start assembly. Need to clean up the hubs and lace the wheels. I ordered new Dunlop tires , tubes and rim strips . Going to try and do a little everyday if I can . I think I'll get a new rectifier/ regulator assembly . Points are cheap and I'll stick with them . Spring seems a long way off . Keep trying guys ! The sun will be out and we will be riding soon enough .
Regards,
CPKID

Just have to clean up that reinforced area where the backbone bends and we'll be ready to weld up the hardtail. Feel like we're running behind and we don't even have snow to blame it on...

My update consists of some big news! I got picked to be a part of the Greasy Dozen. Completely humbled to have been chosen. Should mean a better build and some good exposure for the "BuiltNotBought" world of garage builders. Updates coming soon.

9 steak tacos, a hand full of beer and some helping hands from a buddy and shes looking like a motor. Almost lost the cam chain (would of been the 3rd time) but some finess with a coat hanger and we were ok. starting to look better....cant believe how filthy it was. I would of cleaned her up better but not trying to impress anyone...just have fun
