What have you done to your XS today?

While renewing the rego yesterday it sprung a fuel leak from the diaphram end of the petcock. Drained the tank and removed the valve and compared it against some XS750 petcock kits I've got but found the diaphrams slightly different. Guess I'll have to travel over to my storage shed and dig out a kit tomorrow. Looks like I'm back on the Guzzi for a few days.

Had to fix some carnage today. Due to minor mishap today going around 10-15mph. Dirt and cardboard make it a slippery situation.
Managed to bang the bars straight again, headlight housing was able to bend into shape(beam didn't crack and fits inside again), mirror broken off. Found out my gas cap is too top heavy now and broke. Need new one now.

Last night I tried to start the SG. I tested for spark and got none. Tested for voltage, fuses and exposed plug. Determined the pamco and coil were dead. I ordered a new ultimate coil, basic pamco and the electronic advance. Along with some stuff to use the Standard tank I have. Like some petcocks.

changed my oil since it's been 200 miles since I did the top-end. Some Flakes but nothing too bad. I cleaned the filter in the right side of the case, and I wanted to replace the sump filter but I realized I don't have a new gasket... my guess is it's never been done, which is sort of scary, but I figured the old gasket would break and it's going to be 80 degrees this weekend so... next time:shrug:. I ordered up a gasket from Mikes along with a couple other things, like a new speedo cable since my old one is somewhere out on HWY 46...

Got the taillights working. Adjusted and align the chain. Waiting the order from Mikes. Should be here Tuesday or so.

Stared at her. Thoughts of endless rides in my head.....waiting for the order from Mikes to arrive.....

Ok. Got lots of parts in. Fuel cap was the wrong one. Reordered correct one. And krohger cap was too small.
-But left side petcock fit perfect and no leaks(from panic cycles on eBay ) only left side petcock in 3/8 for sportster
-Installed some black bar ends.
- installed uni filter in spike cover. That red paper one was not making my motor happy. Lol

The Honda rebel shocks have been a little to soft.
So I made a preload spanner to stiffen them up.
Then I stiffened them up 2 clicks
now I'm going or a ride

It was nice out yesterday so I started my bike , was going to take it for a short ride . Did a pre-trip ,found 2 problems , the rear brake light switch was broken in two ,so I got some wire and jury rigged it but still no brake lights. I tried the front brake , not working either . I turn on the lights , the tail light is now out as well .

So, I start looking for the problem, take off the taillight lens , bulb is ok, inspect all the connections and wire ,all seems good , take off the taillight housing and notice the ground looks a bit dirty so I unplug it and see that there was only two strands of copper in the connector .

By the time I fixed everything we had a bunch show up for a party so I missed out on my ride . At least I am ready for next time , been a long winter .

Pulled the motor out of my bobber today looked like i was right about getting blowby on the one cylinder

started out right with a bloody mary though!
