What I'd like to see is a stainless replica of the original Conti mufflers as used on late '70s Ducatis. That , in my mind, was one of the prettiest and nicest sounding mufflers ever made. If you made a universal version that could be mounted on most old bikes, I bet you'd sell a boatload of them. Bub Enterprises used to make them in steel and I have a set on my Guzzi. They're just a simple, long, gently tapered megaphone .....

Stainless silencers which are copies of 2 types of the originals are available from Rudiger Paustian at http://shop.xs650shop.de/front_content.php?idcat=18 although I'm not sure how many they sell at that price.

Your down pipes do well when they turn up on eBay but the price goes up and down and I think you may sell more if you had a buy it now price only. I would have bought some but don't want to enter a bidding war for some. Also, you don't say what the pipe I.D. And O.D. is which would help.

If I had a bike in one piece you could borrow it but, unfortunately, I don't! Maybe try the VJMCC?

Hope this helps
Bob

The universal Conti replica I'm referring to would need the sliding track mount on it so it could be adapted to numerous bikes, not a welded-in-place mount like the Staintune .....

thats the bracket mount we have used for 40 years- not sure if we copied conti in the 70s or they copied us

we make a stainless steel silencer very similar with db eater we are selling at £50

I would love to see the baffle end of that muffler better. The 2nd image you attached is too small to be of much use.

luckily we are better at making exhausts than working on the web!

on a different bike but this is the db eater- about 4dbA quieter with it fitted

we struggled to stay ahead of demand- are making a new batch now and will list on ebay at a fixed buy it now price when ready

sizing was designed to fit with standard silencers (think it was 38mm outlet od but will check)

That's exactly what we would need for our 650s, about a 1.5" inlet. That's the O.D. of the stock headpipes and also many of the aftermarket replacements. Please let us know when they are available, I may just have to try a set.

I know one stainless pipe set that would sell really well - a set of factory original 4 into 2 pipes for the Honda CB900C / CB750. The only thing on the market are cheap 4 into 1 sets. I can't even run a 4 into 1 cuz my sidecar's in the way. I have the original 4 into 2's which are ratty and rusting out. Guys who have the CB900c's will pay $1400 for a rusty set like mine, I can't imagine what a new well built stainless set would be worth.

Picked up one of those bikes that just can't be beat.....Free.....

XS850G with the 24litre tank and has a Moted 3 into 1 on it. Don't see it in your scope of works

would like to make a more specific version for XS650- don't want to sell on the forum- please email me on ianmcdonald@motad.co.uk and perhaps we can work together on getting this done

We have had to reduce the range of old models- and just make them to special order (but this reduces price as we don't have to stock) we have some XS750 systems but have not had demand for the 850- problem is they last too long and don't wear out!

we have made a stainless 4-2 for the dohc 750/900 for some years at under $500- never had any demand from the C/custom guys (till now)

we will have the next batch of xs650 pipes ready next week and want to fit them to a bike with our stainless steel reverse cone silencers

if you can loan us a bike for a couple of days here in Walsall W MIDS- then we are keen to supply you a set of pipes or complete with silencers at very very low price as a a thank you for your help

drop me an email in ianmcdonald@motad.co.uk if you can help

system now finished and first production just being made

a nice sound and road legal- with the option of removing the db eaters and getting more noise for off road use

comes with mounting brackets so any of the early bikes with integral pillion footrest and silencer mount will need single bolt pillion footrests to fit
