Hey everyone! I have search through several pic's of xs650's and cannot find too many bikes that have larger tanks. Currently I am looking to do the visual impact kit and I am trying to put something larger than my stock special tank on the bike. Ebay has a 3.8 gallon axed peanut tank that I am interested in and just would like to see some pics of something close to this. Any suggestions or direction you can give me.
Thanks

Hi Ace,
FWIW, the 1 gallon larger XS650 Standard tank drops straight on.
Gotta be a complete tank though, gas cap and all, the caps look the same but they are different enough they don't swap. Fading memory sez mebbe the gas taps are different too.
What will swap between Special and Standard gas caps is the little square module with the key in it so you can still operate with a single key.

My XS - bobber - has the HD fat bob tanks - it's actually 2 tanks - I have the larger ones but probably will switch to the smaller ones. The larger ones hold something like 5 gallons, the smaller 3.5 I think. My main problems are:

1) the ones I have leak (they are old)

2) They are so large that my bars hit the tanks on a tight turn, so it limits my turning radius, only an issue when parking, etc.

3) in your case, you'd have to weld in custom brackets. Mine has the brackets welded in already. Maybe that's not an issue for you.

Like Fred sed......the Standard tank is a straight drop in and will give you an extra gallon, however you'll be using the rear tank stud mount and the brat kits I see require the removal of that stud. Now if a kit would come out that keeps the mount.........

Ni nj,
I wondered what a brat kit was and google showed me all kinds of ads for XS650 brat kits plus an install video so now I know what it is:-
A weld-on frame mod that lets you replace the stock dualseat with a small hard unsprung solo seat set at a non-ergonomic angle.
If that's what you want, fine.
But why the name?
