Luthor's Build

Some goodies came from MikesXS yesterday while I was at work so while enjoying a cup of coffee this AM I decided to get some tiny stuff out of the way. I ordered the starter fix since you can see the wear on the gear already.

Already had the clutch basket removed and as specified, the spring is aftermarket so it won't fit in the groove. That being said, it went to the right side of it. I spent some time looking around here and looking through the manual as well, but for some reason I couldn't see if there was a washer supposed to go behind the clip. I figured there was since with JUST the clip that thing was all wobbly. You can see in the pics.

Here you go.

Oil delivery pipe from Heiden Tuning along with the SS bolts from ProBolts USA.

Next to adjust the valve clearances and then to install the ignition system. Charging system will be arriving next Tuesday...

So after adjusting the valve clearances again, I decided to start putting together the ignition system... And of course, MikesXS does it again. They only sent me 3 bushings, I need 4. Just sent them an e-mail to see how fast they can get me the damn bushing. It's the 3rd time they screw up on an order of mine. Ugh!

The How-To from HHB is pretty damn easy to follow:

If you need another starter let me know I have one here you can have. Motor build is insanely clean. can't believe I have not came across this thread before.Hit me up if you need anything I'm pretty close to you

So according to that HHB link I posted, my ignition system install is EVERYTHING except HORIZONTAL, so I must be doing something wrong... The complete PMA kit comes in the mail todal along with the Hydro Clutch swap kit as well...

Quick update. The worst case scenario was that I had installed the camshaft incorrectly, which I did, so there was NO WAY I was going to be able to install it according to the "How-To" by HHB. Got the night off from work so I decided to take everything apart and fix it. God how I miss my workbench. My back's killing me!

Right side installed correctly after installing the camshaft the proper way.

I wish I would've taken a picture of how the magnets should be aligned, but they're horizontal, the way they SHOULD BE.

And everything lines up perfectly when in TDC.

The Hydro Clutch Swap Kit was mailed to Canada by accident and I haven't heard from HHB about it yet, but I have faith he will hit me up soon. In the meantime, I've been in contact with "RFLIVES" back & forth. Seeing how he had a built a very nice XS650, and he's close to me, I hope he will be willing to, and for the right price of course, to fabricate a mounting tab for these gigantic fuckers:

Later on down the road, when the frame is fabricated, etc., they'll be relocated, but for the time being, I need to put them somewhere. Let's see what he says. *cross fingers* Now to brew some more coffee, check valve clearances and install the PMA.

You can kinda see the coil mount on my chop in this one is this what you are looking for?

Yup! That's exactly what I'm looking for. It'll only be temporary so I can fine tune the engine. Once I relocate this Fall, I'll get the frame build rolling and I'll see how much clearance I will have with the gas tank, etc., or they'll be mounted to the frame. Are you up for the task?
