Trying to accumulate ideas for my first bobber build. So far I have it stripped to just a roller. I've been looking for tank that sits low but not so low I have to modify upper motor mounts. The high tunnel peanut caught my eye but looked like modifications (on mm) might be needed.... might be a little small too. Sportster looked good. Anyone with two cents and pics would be much appreciated. Thanks.

The peanut won't fit over the upper motor mounts without modification. I used a sportster tank for a build but had to re tunnel lit to get it to sit low. And I remade the motor mounts too. If you re phase you can safely run without top mounts.

Hi, this is what I did for mine. I think you'll need to make new motor mounts to get a snug fit. Dont worry, they're not too tricky and you'll be pleased that you did, in my opinion.

Did you rubber mount the bottom of the tank tabs as well between the tank and frame, Paul? Are they just washers from the hardware store?

Hi, yes I did, I laminated some rubber sheeting to form the radius of the frame and then cut it to shape and punched the holes. The nylon "caps" were machined on the lathe and the rest are from the hardware store.

Here's a couple bobbers I built. One's a 1960's sportster tank, the other is a mustang tank. I like em both.

I appreciate your help and pics on this. After seeing how you modified the motor mounts I ordered the peanut. Thanks.
