Hey guys,

Anyone know what the bearing specs are for a 77' rear spoked hub?

I am trying to swap some XS wheels onto a bike with a 17mm axle, instead of the 20mm (i believe) that the xs runs.

I heard that the rear has two different size bearings. Is this correct?

Thanks.

Yes, the sprocket side bearing actually has a larger I.D. than 20mm and is sleeved down with a top hat shaped spacer (#20 below) .....

Notice the lip on the back of that spacer sleeve. It works in conjunction with the long tube spacer (#7) between the bearings to achieve the proper spacing and preload on them. So, if you're thinking you'll just swap in some bearings with a 17mm I.D., that's not gonna work.

Well that was the original plan...hmmm....could you match the brake side with a larger ID bearing and sleeve them both down ya think?
