Finaly registered. This site has helped alot over the past year with my build. Figured it was time to show it off now that its getting close to goin together.

Customer came in with a 81 XS in rough shape. Was stolen 6moths prior and recovered.
Harness was trashed, hot wired.wrecked several times,no charging,no starter, didnt run w/ new ign.She didnt have the cash to ix it So I offered her 400. SOLD! got it running after lunch the same day.
I dont have any prework pics. just imagine beat up tins, rust everywhere and that king/queen seat complete with holes and ducktape.

Dropped the seat and made a pan, protaper bars, headlight, normal light custom work.

That was last feb.Took her or a spin around the parking lot and loved every second, ran great. Came back to do an oil change and found and entire chain guide worth of plastic in the filter. no go.
disassemble the motor. Burned rod bearings/small end, front tensioner shed its poly, roasted rings.
And so the long project began.

Had HHB do a rephase crank(cant speak highly enough about that outfit),pma,.5over pistons, clutch, trans bearings, starter delete, pamco ign,5th gear overdrive,1 piece clutch rod,HHB speedster pipes wrapped w/ dual short megaphones under the cases, swingarm bushings, monster craftsman brat kit, harley bagger rear shocks w/the inner spring removed so on and on and on.

And after a year and a half this is where I stand.
lots to do and spring is coming!
I have every part for the motor, most everything for the rest. Everything is getting powdercoated soon. Yamaha blue w/ pearl on the tins, black everything else. that should be in the next couple weeks
Hope y'all dig it.
let me know if there is a more apropriate way to post pics.

I've got the tcbros on it. plan on cutting about an inch off the mount to bring them in a bit.no pipe clearance to worry about

It's an experiment. its 1/4" braised on with flat stock in the front. I always wear a backpack w/ misc tools and work clothes so no weight on it. its about half of an old hardknock fender.with a tooled leather skirt on the bottom

Fuck it, run it, blow it up is my motto...we'll see how it holds up lmao

Progress!

My shop is a mess!
Gotta find the sealing washers for the head. Gonna call my suzuki guy and check out the p# I've seen on here. Are they the same thickness or do I need to double up

Wow guys. My bad. Familial drama has had me distracted for a long while. Build is going great!
Got everything powder coated, went with flat black on the frame and swingarm and jockey blue over chrome on the tins. Turned out slick. Took it for a ride a few weeks back just to burn in the rings, clutch was slipping and had a few other little problems but over all I'm very very pleased with the way it turned out. Still working on the electrical, hiding everything and keeping it OEM organized is a pain.

Still waiting on OEM steel plates and time to finish the wiring. If say I'm 95% now

The bagger shocks look great, and if I can find the time to make a jig to get them apart without having them up like I did the last few of take out one of the springs and run some air. For now they are stiff but not hard tail solid. That will be one of the first things I tinker with. I have 5 or 6 pair to play with
