Shew, loving those machining skills. The tank looks awesome!

Did you make that rear fender strut/mount? If not, where did you pick that up? Love that look.

Thx. Yes I made that rear fender mount. Not a huge fan of it honestly.
I can. Make you some. From a card stock template, drawing, or whatever.

I figured you made it, it just looked a lot like something I have seen in the past that I really like. The last thing I want is just plain rod for a mount. This is kind of what I had in mind…

I'll try to see what I can come up with for sizing and send you a PM on it. Excited to see what else you come up with on this build.

Yeah.... Looks good.
I didn't want a plain jane mount either.
I'm still trying to decide what to do with me electronics and battery.

Wait a minute..... Is that a purse, lol

Hahahh I know!! I don't get that whole deal..but then again I'm not cool enough to have a Harley so what do I know!

That's no purse. It's a messenger bag. Trust me....They got 'em at the army surplus store...BTW 4X4fab...nice thinking out of the box and getting it on metal. Really good work there.

Ahhh. Not sure what you currently have but you can do a PMA swap, a Pamco Ignition, and a capacitor.

I'm not really sure what I have either to be honest. This is my first XS 650. I got the bike on trade. The motor is supposedly fresh, and built by Hughes. Although I don't know if it's true, nor do I have any clue to the internals or charging system. I haven't contacted Hughes yet to see if maybe he marks the motors he does.... Maybe he'll chime in if he reads this.

I'd just pop off the ignition cover and see what you're working with. Then take off the left side head cover ignition cover. That will show you what you have. Just google PMA and Pamco Ignition and you'll see what it should look like if that's whats in there. If it was truly built by Hugh though, i'd bet it has that setup.

If Hugh built it the crank will have his marks on it just pull the sump plate and you will have your answer.
If he built it I'm 98% sure it will have a Pamco in it too.
Pull the sparkplugs look inside and see if it's rephased.
I've been following your thread you are doing some fine work :thumbsup:

Got the honda drum dtilled out for my 17mm stock axle. Then turned some spacers. I'm going to remake the left side and taper it like the right side.
Got it on the ground for about 15 min to check my suspension with the 23" wheel.
Next just got to make a brake stay and cable mount. Considering making a few extras as well as spacers if anyone wants to mount a honda 23" wheel
