Hey gang,

Just starting to dig into converting my bike into an urban cafe. I bought the bike recently and am unsure of the frame ID. The motor is a 447-11xxxx, so the Vin sticky helped identify the year there, but the frame prefix isn't listed. It's a CS3-20xxxx. Any ideas?

Apparently, the whole bike was pieced together from parts from several different year bikes.

Thanks,
Jake

Hi jake,
that's Skull's ID chart? I don't see any CS3- code there at all, neither.
You sure it's an XS650 frame at all? (Yeah, I know, but weirder things than that can happen.)
Post a photo so us alleged experts can see it, eh?
[edit]
Just found the 2 bikes in a truck photo in your first post.
The orange/red bike in front sure looks like an XS650.
Can't see very much of the bike behind it though.
Which one are you working on?

Defiantly a Standard frame, 74-79

74TXA or 75B, Gauges, mufflers, (silencers), front forks, the tank is off a76C. Single throttle cable so the carbs are most probably 76C, or later

If you go by the no and not the prefix then the frame could also be a 76C. It is the only US number that starts with 20xxxx until the 80SG and that frame was different

Give the prefix a good clean up and see if it gets any clearer.

Front guard ????????????

Tidy looking bike, a keeper if it runs as good as it looks.

A 73 TX650 has an S650 frefix and the no's start with 20xxxx but the frame is completly different to the one on your bike.

There have been 3 bikes lately that have had dodgy frame no's when compared to the normal Styles/models of the bikes. Seems that the XS650's are getting down to these sorts, where there have been some skulldouggery going on and who knows the real history or legality of these bikes.

I guess if it has a title then who cares.

 do ya think? had one of those RD200's it might be possible to shoehorn in a 650 lump but taking it over any bumps would be dicey, ah well not my problem but does sound like a re-stamped frame to match "A" title if the frame has a CS3 #

Not a RD 200 but the will shoehorn into a DT250. Glad he kept the front drum brake:D
