I picked up this 1980 and would like to make it original.

Previous PO removed wire harness and electrical items.

I could use some advice on where the fuse box and rectifier are located. (for that matter, the harness runs too). I've been sifting through past threads for photos, but haven't yet found the pics I'm looking for. The fuse box bolt spread matches one on the left battery box, but then the coil wires don't reach.

I have functions such as spark and the electric leg. I can always go the way of the Chrysler reg/Radio Shack recs.

Thoughts appreciated

There should be two threaded holes on the bottom back side of the vertical tube that is right behind the engine. The reg/rec mounts there.
The battery has a plastic top cover, the fuse box sits in slots on this cover. Find a cover for sale on eBay to see what it looks like.

If you have access to a factory repair manual, it has diagrams that show how the stock harness goes on the bike. It also shows where the electrical parts go. It shows proper routing of the clutch and throttle cables.
Some one on here has posted these diagrams before, I should have saved them. Perhaps they will show them again. Or you may find them by search the site.

Thanks guys................I knew I'd seen those diagrams before and went off searching microfiches.

I'm lucky so far---The harness is looking fairly neat and the only thing not working is the flasher unit.

Need to check the charging circuit, and the carbs need some love.

Thanks again-

On your turn signals, do they flash with the engine running and reved up a bit?
The turn signals draw a lot of power. With 2 27 watt bulbs and the 3 watt indicator that's 57 watts, even more than the headlight.
They often won't flash well without the engine running.
Being an 80 it has a turn signal self canceler. Most are at the "End of Life" Or if it hasn't started screwing up it soon will.
A lot of us swap out the flasher for a two prong flasher. It's at the "End of Life" too. This will improve the turn signals, they will flash at lower voltages. It does bypass the self canceler.

Thanks Leo...........flashers iffy, actually it's a connection. I shifted the harness a bit and they came on. For the price, I think I'll pick up a flasher anyway and eliminate that worry.

Now, on to the loose connections.................
