This is my dad's old bike, purchased by him new in 1977. We got it running when I was in high school around 2001. I took it with me to work on when I finished college in 2006. A friend and I disassembled it to have the frame and some body parts powder-coated. Since then, I've purchased numerous replacements parts and bolted the engine back on, but that's about it. I have basically all of the parts, some old and some brand new, and with an 8-month old at home, no time to assemble them. All wires that were removed have been labelled well, so shouldn't be too difficult to reconnect electrical. I also have the service manual and some other related tools and books. I can send pictures. Just looking for a good home for the bike, so it can get back together. I'm currently in the Oklahoma City area.

Added photos. I have the Florida title signed over to me from my Dad. Not sure if it can be signed over a second time or if I need to obtain a new title here in Oklahoma to sign over to the buyer.
 
Engine should be in good working condition. I think the last thing it needed before I took the whole thing apart was new coils. Also, I bet the electric starter needs work, but we always just used the kick-start. Parts are a little dusty, and some could use a little buffing. I did some myself and also had some parts done outside. I had a shop polish out the rims and re-spoke the wheels at one point. We used good FME to keep stuff from getting into the openings to the engine.

I've got brothers just a skip away from OKC and will be passing through on my way to Pikes Peak in a couple weeks.
 
So, in order to get the title, it sounds like I'm going to have to dig out the odometer and take that and the frame to the DMV in order to title what is essentially a pile of parts that could be driven once reassembled. Between the gas to haul this thing around, time, and cost of titling, it's looking like it would be easiest to abandon this thing on the side of the road or take it to a junkyard, which I would hate to do. Any ideas? I'd almost be willing to part with it for just about free if someone would take it off my hands without this hassle (and maybe send me a picture of what it looks like once it's put back together).
 
In Hoosierland, an in-state title transfer requires you to take the title to the motor vehicle department and apply for a title in your name......bikes from out of state must be verified by law enforcement to confirm serial numbers per vin check before title can be processed and then issued in your name.
Oklahoma law sounds anal.
Still, best that the title is in your name, Whatever the cost and aggravation......add it to the sale price if need be, as it's worth it to the buyer.
 
Maybe if you assemble it into at least a roller and get the title in your own name someone would want it.

Unfortunately, unfinished projects aren't worth nearly as much as finished ones. Especially ones without clear titles. If you want to take the time to part it out, you would do better than taking some money and having someone take it away. States are all different on their titling conditions and it sounds like OK is a little sticky. Up here in Washington, we have the option of saying "I don't know" on the mileage and it is listed that way on the title. There is an age thing on that but 1977 should be old enough. Up here, we can sign an affidavit that it isn't hot if you have a bill of sale and the DMV actually issues a ID plate for the frame just as if it was a scratch-built frame.

If it is over 9 years old (which it is) you don't need to have an odometer reading or number.

If it is from out of state, the DMV needs to inspect your frame number.
