I'm looking at a 78 special and was hoping someone could tell me the stock height of the handlebars. I'm wondering if I can fit the bike in the back of my Honda Element.

Found this general specs for the 1978 Special.
The height probably includes the rear view mirrors, so can knock off a few inches if you remove them.

I fit an '80 and '83 into my Element by loosening the handlebars and rotating them downward

If your 78 Special still has the stock rototiller bars you can do yourself a favor by swapping out to the standard bar or any of a number of other, lower bars. Most special owners do so.
