750 Big Bore kit questions?

Thanks Sundie, yes i am aware of my "infraction of doubt",i shall surely hope and pray that the electronic demi-gods of the all-knowing/all-seeing will forgive my brutal outburst of doubt that i have thrust into their faces with such "udder" disrespect. For surely, who am i but a mere mortal among such intellectual giants of the mumbo-jumbo of the internet? How dare i be such a curmudgen as to inquire of actual "FACTS"? That being said,i shall now simply dissolve into a stinky vapor and disappear into the unknown.

Hey ou812,i'm still waiting for the info from you about Mike's "inferior" cams, whats up? I honestly need to know if there is really something faulty about them before we put this engine together,or were your comments just heresay thrown out here just to be negative about one of Mike's products? Before this i have not heard anyting bad about them.Thanks.

Sorry about not getting back to answer your question...been fishing; MAUMEE RIVER, Walleye are still hitting; that and I don't live on this forum. Too many experts.
In any event, I don't get into the (He said-She said) bullshit, in life, or on web forums.. Both cams (Mikes) that I have personally seen and replaced were soft/scuffed after limited use. And no. there was no issue with oil getting to the top end. Or the quality of oil being used.
Someone suggested Shells #1 cam. Again, be vary cautious. I have no idea what happened to Shell Racing after Dick Fox bought the busness, other than he fucked a great name up; and the cams (#1s ) were junk. I do not mean to suggest in any way that what Hoos Racing, and the (Shell) parts they are selling are also suspect. And again, this is not he said she said bullshit. Seen them with my eyes. I have no experience with the 256 cam; I do know Megacycle grinds a great cam. They know what there doing.
I have run there cams in my Triumphs/BSAs, and the XS 750s. No issues, no problems.
What I will leave you with is this; do not take anyone's word in regard to cam specs. There are no (drop in) cams. It makes no sense to me that you wood take someone's word when it's too easy to (spec out the cam) for yourself ........lobe center/separation/lift /duration. You can take a stock XS cam, spec it out and for most people it's all they want or need. BTW—Shells #1 cam is a stock cam that has had the base circle ground down... that's it.... You'll save your self lots of grief if (you find the #s) and start from there.
This is for the tuners that live in Ohio , or will be bringing there bike this way. let me know when you are going to be coming this way.
Bring your bike. I live 30 minutes from Mid Ohio,I know the owner(s)and track manager; and I am absolutely sure I can get track time. Gotta drag strip right up the road also. Just sayin. I would like to see what a really fast XS will do. My bikes are not that fast,Im not an expert tuner; and Im not a poker player either. But I have cash, and would be willing to learn.

Thank you for your response,ou812.I'm not sure exactly what "soft/scuffed" means, and if that could even be considered premature wear/damage,or merely normal break-in wear? I am still going to run Mike's cam and will check on it after a few thousand miles. If it is looking suspect,i will replace it with a stock cam.I am not planning on a trip to Ohio in the future,(having last been back there in 1993) or i would surely take you up on a drag strip run or 2,just for giggles. My "Green Hornet" (see cover of Chopper Underground #2) is fairly stock, but runs rather respectable.Good luck on the fishing man.Over and out.
